Hell yea! Once it's cold I hit the ground with a tarp and some cordage. Good way for us normal people to avoid the winter loadout being that much heavier.

Welcome to our neck of the woods! We have done several of the trails in the Marietta district of WNF and really enjoy them The Kinderhook short loop was our first family adventure video for our channel, TimeOut to the Trail. We got lost once, but the short loop was marked ok for most of it. Those hills can be killer at times. Thanks for sharing your adventure and would love to meet you next time you are in this area!

Bryce, Thanks for the video enjoyed tagging along. I’ve also noticed on my Ohio trips they loves to not use trail markers maybe since we don’t have a lot of long distance trails they try to make them longer by causing you to backtrack so much. Love me some Backpacking but our trails could use some love.

Sometimes a GPS can be used to confirm your location on your topo map... I’ve been a tarp and quilt guy for years. My big luxury has been my cheap folding stool. It’s heavy and just slides over my pack such that I can take it on and off quickly during breaks. It has a pouch under the seat. I put it beside my head at night for my glasses, flashlight and phone. In the pouch is cord, bug juice, gloves and such. I’m 63. Thanks for sharing this adventure. Texas

FYI No inner nets in those. I do bring a Friendly Swede bug net (super cheap) when I need to for those but rarely do. I also had a BearPaw Sil teepee Tarp made with a bug net around rim edges and net zipper door. All are no floors. All need trekking poles or branches to stand. All these are all UL. All these can withstand elements and ive had no bugs and critter issues despite the openness.
