Just got my first tarp for a bit of bike packing in 2022 and found your knot video excellent/very well done. All I need to do now is practice those knots and bingo I’m good to go. Can’t wait to have a go. Thanks

Really good instructional John. Knots are a thing of confidence and joy. Once you get them you're raring to go erecting shelters at will. Good going. Mark

Nice and clear video, even though my choice of knots is completely different: bowline for the first part of the ridgeline, self-locking (double-threaded) truckers hitch for the second end, then I have short pieces of paracord permanently attached to the tarp, so I just attach them to the ridgeline with a rolling hitch (usually the plain non crossed variant, basically a half prusik) and then use the traditional taut line hitch or midshipmans hitch for the stakes. I've converged to this after a couple years and consider it perfect for my needs.

Thanks for taking the time to comment. I haven't used too many others than the ones I use in this video but have found once you perfect a few that work for you then I'm pretty happy using. them on a regular basis. I imagine there are good amount more to use should people experiment with them and then, like yourself, find the right knots to suit your needs.

Hiya just watched this video and want to Thankyou for sharing. Probably the simplest explanation and video for me. No hands covering the vital loop or crossover 😂 I don't camp too often and have just recently bought a tarp so I don't remember the knots. I will use your video as my Go to 👍

Hey Lee 👍🏼 Thank you for the kind comment! Glad you got some valuable information from it because if you aren’t sure on knots it can be a pain when you’re not fully sure. Give them a practice before you head out on an overnighter but they’ve served me well for sure 👍🏼 Atb, John 👍🏼
