Here's Pepe Romero playing one of Francisco Tarrega's Mazurkas on one of the rarest guitars we've seen - an 1894 Hijos de Melchor Moya. Moya, along with his brother and sons, were contemporaries and friends of Antonio de Torres, and the Moya's were great exponents of Torres' building techniques after his death. Recorded at the Guitar Salon International showroom in Santa Monica, CA.

Interesting guitar, the rosete and bridge are not common anymore, and the head is similar to those of fleta's guitars. the Pepe's playing was also nice, thanks for sharing

The upper bout of this guitar looks to be only three inches thick! Anyone know where to find a blueprint? This guitar really sounds big for it's thickness. (I'm not going to be able to sleep until I find out if this instrument tapers to three and a half or four( or more) inches thickness at the tail. If it doesn't , Torres was totally right about the top being everything.) This thing growls like a big rosewood box and has the bell like highs of a solid maple guitar. Thanks to everyone involved in producing this video. It is a rare, historically important treat and fully appreciated.

The bass is a bit "boomy" and somewhat muddy on this guitar and yet it is considered a luthier masterwork. I guess one can't generalise too much as to what "qualities" are desired or not in a classical, it's all up to the individual guitar at hand.
