Total War: Warhammer is part of Creative Assembly's grand strategy Total War series. Set in the grim, high fantasy world of Warhammer Fantasy, Total War: Warhammer pits many unique races in a struggle for domination of the Old World. Soldiers clash with magic and monsters, as factions are locked in battle. But beyond this conflict lurks a larger threat: The forces of Chaos descend from the north to bring ruin and destruction, at the behest of their dark gods.
Total War: Warhammer II takes the battle to the New World across the sea, where new races fight to enact rituals and control the Great Vortex. Total War: Warhammer II is a standalone game, fully playable on its own. However, players who own the first game or DLC will find that it carries over and can be combined with the second game, for one epic experience in campaign and multiplayer.
Both games can be purchased in a number of stores, but require a Steam account to play.

actually quality armour could stop early gunpowder weapons at anything but close quarter combat ranges and even then the best would still stop it, its just quite a bit more expensive to equip the ten heavily armoured knights than the eighty or so riflemen that they can take out.

The basic problem is that CA wants both battles and campaign to be balanced, so they won't balance battles *with* campaign. The canonical answer to this is that Chaos has numerical and logistical advantages - daemons don't need food, warmth, or sleep. But the game doesn't even simulate a lot of that stuff.

On Khorne, we'll still laugh. Except on a possible Bloodthirster doomstack, which might be their only saving grace. WoC as in the game rn, are more or less Khorne themed anyway. Shaggoths being substitutes for demons. Imagine if they wouldnt even have magic.

@@ravensflockmate It would work, yes. I try. That is how I play. For fun. But, go into legendary or even late game. Empire is pigeonholed in the Jack of all trades category. Problem comes that they have underpowered units in all categories (baring arty, which is good and Demis). That preety much makes their front line paper. And their normal range also bad. You have to jump thru hoops to get the same results from other factions. Their Lord's are also preety meh to bad. Skills, even reworked, need a buff. Their are only decent in multy, where you know your opponent and counterpick. In campaighn, fat chance. One bad matchup or being targeted by multiple factions is crazy bad. Steam tanks are decent as well, but nothing crazy. Your well rounded army will stand no chance to multy stack, semi-doomstack AI. Here's example from a simple campaighn I'm doing on normal. Rakarth comes in, bypasses Couronne (Norsca problems there) and Marrienburg (one city and fort) and goes for my tier 2 Einhart. Go in with my tier 3 army: Karl, Life W, Priest, Halb, 2 Swords,2 Spear, 5 archers, Reiks and Pisto, Mortar and Crossbows. Some Ror. Karl 11. How do you deal with with monsters stack. 3 Hydras. Dragon and other monstrosities. Yea, I won. But I've runned around with the cav from Hydras. Lost a coupe of units. That is an early stack from stack faction. Late game, against D Elf stacks. Yea. Skaven and their toys. Norsca and 5+ mammoths. Halb/Spear and Swords/Great S melt. Monster heavy armies melt you. Giant melle armies also bad. You need a front line of Tanks and Heroes. And behind arty and maybe range. Cav is not good. Dies to easy. Reiksguard, the thing you boost is worse than unbosted Demis . Spam and even normal play for empire is Demi Domstack (Take advantage of impact). Tank Domstack with L Wizard (expensive and not great). Or frontline with arty. Take the blunt hit of what remains after arty shreds it, and just wait. Your melee is not good enough. Your cav, barring spammed, won't be that usefull, range can't output the thing others can. And it's W2. I fear W3. Chaos is melee. That means boosted stats to keep up with Elfs 3, Dwarf, Skaven. And monster factions. Vampire C are statistically worse and in campeighn than Pirate vamps. They will struggle with Chaos. Empire with their front line? They will have a bad time. Plus is the power Creep from W1. Here's my more late game stack: Frantz, Priest, L Wizard, 2 Tanks, 2 Reiks(I like them, they stay always), Cannon and 4 Hellstorms, 2 G Swords or Halb, rest mix of gunpowder and arrows. Mix varries. Maybe one more hero. That is decent, but get a bad mach-up and you get screwed.
