Tarzan had the upper hand against Clayton the moment the fight moved to the vines in the canopy. Tarzan was more suited to moving around in the vines, while Clayton got tangled. He also let his temper and obsession cloud his judgement and made a dumb decision.

I always cry when kerchek died. Even though he can be tough sometimes and never accepted tarzan just because he was a human, but he still deep down is a nice gorilla. At the end he accepted tarzan and was grateful for him. And tarzan is also really nice because despite the villain being very evil and wants to kill gorillas, tarzan still tried to warn him that he was gonna get hung…

It may sound weird, but I think Clayton looks like a Leopard and maybe it wasn't just a coincidence. His physique kind looks like the leopard's, his manerisms, his yellow clothes, the way his head is shaped, the way that red "cloth" around his neck looks like the tongue of a predator with its mouth open, etc. Maybe I'm overthinking, but it's an interesting tought.
