One Correction: I incorrectly said Marvel's ongoing Tarzan series was from the 80's. It's actually from the late 70's. When DC's Tarzan series ended in 77 the Marvel series started several months later and would run through 1979. Also, the Thomas/Buscema run includes the series first annual.

I have to say that Tarzan on The Planet of Apes is a really series that manages to stay faithful to both franchises. Another thing is that the story manages to explore some interesting concepts.

o no! jesse marsh is the best version of tarzan ! jesse's work eclipses all others. those dell golden age books are magical. marsh was an artist. manning was an illustrator.

Currently reading the Jungle Tales of Tarzan comic by dark horse. A really good book and it has a story illustrated by Pablo Marcos himself.

Thanks! Dell was well before my time, so I haven't read those. Hope to get some of the Manning reprints from that era someday.

@@ToddLuck I confess, I find most of the Dell ones pale in comparison to me who was raised on Kubert, Frazetta, and Adams. :)

What , you can't do the Tarzan yell yourself? A mature. Kidding. I am a big Tarzan fan starting with the Ron Eli series in the 60s when I was a kid. Bait fan of T in the comics. I have lots from the old strips with Hal Foster and Burne Hogarth. Kubert is my favorite T artist with Manning close behind. Paul Norris did a commendable job at Gold Key. I haven't kept up with the more recent stuff but do have some. I liked the DH run. I didn't know about the current on line series. I liked you video and will watch more. I've done a fee T episodes on my channel and plan to do many more. I have many of the old Jesse Marsh books from the 50s as well as some of the hard back reprints. Not as good as the strips of the time but enjoyable.

Thanks! A new officially licensed Tarzan comic series just started. It’s called Lord of the Jungle. The first issue came out last month! They’ve also come out with hard cover collections of the some the online strips this year.

That's the BD, right? Haven't been able to get it myself, artwork looks great, sadly, from what I've seen, it suffers from the "adapted for modern audiences" crap.

7:10 is the book completed by Lansdale (white cover with Tarzan facing a black panther on a tree) a novel (no illustrations) or is the same as this comic?

It’s actually the novel (with pulp-style b&w illustrations by Thomas Yeates, ect and back-up features like a reprint of the original John Carter comic strips ) that was published in four parts. That was how it was originally published in the 90s. It was later collected into a single book. I think the hardcover has the illustrations. Not sure about the softcover versions. There should be a hardcover reprint of it in the next year in the “Burroughs Authorized Library” with a new Joe Jusko Cover and the original illustrations, cover, etc in the archival material in the back.
