Tarzan Rocks! (Extinct) at Disney's Animal Kingdom (2006)

From 1999 to 2006, "Tarzan Rocks" played daily for guests at Disney's Animal Kingdom. Marketed as the "Two Worlds Tour," the shows loosely follows the film story using Phil Collins musical numbers.

losing this for finding nemo in the Animal Kingdom of all places is an absolute travesty. Disney had one chance to bring Tarzan to the parks and this was it.

I mean this is pretty rough in comparison to the actual broadway musical they did several years later. I wouldn’t lose all hope. But yeah without marketable character that kids know today, I doubt we’ll get anything more than the Tarzan Treehouses.

The real reason they close the show was $. Has being the most expensive show ever. The whole cast was equity, except Terk. This video was a contingency show; they cut the flying number of Tarzan with Jane. It's still my favorite Disney show.

I saw it only once and knew it belonged in the Animal Kingdom. The fact that Finding Nemo gets a ride AND a musical is an outrage. Tarzan and Pocohantas are both forgotten in Disney history

If Disney decides to do a live remake of Tarzan then they should turn it into a musical and have an all star singing cast. They should Queen La into that movie, have her look like her cartoon counterpart from Disney’s Legend of Tarzan series where she is the queen of Opar and has her staff. She should be played by Estelle. The movie should be three hours long.

Yea and they should cast Daisy Ridley as Jane I don't know who would play Tarzan but they can dive into more of Tarzan's human family and his connection with Clayton since they're related and dive into some background about Jane's mother.

It’s difficult to explain why this show was retired. A possibility could have been a decline in popularity or that Finding Nemo outweighed it in popularity. Tarzan Rocks! could have stayed or gone, but I’m OK with the fact that Disney retired Tarzan Rocks!

That... and they don’t own the Tarzan license. That belongs to the Edgar Rice Burroughs estate. Disney had to use their property and get the rights to make Tarzan, but they don’t own the source material. Thus they try to distance from it lately to focus on their own properties. If Tarzan becomes PD, then maybe a comeback but that depends on the ERB estate.
