[TAS] GBA Pokemon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire - Rayquaza Capture Speedrun (Sapphire Field)

A tool-assisted speedrun of Pokemon Pinball: Ruby & Sapphire for the Gameboy Advance. This run plays on the Sapphire Field and ignores score in the interest of capturing Rayquaza as quickly as possible.
This is faster than my first attempt on the ruby field, partly because I've got better at controlling the ball, partly because I planned it better (using the slots saved the most time), and partly because the Sapphire Field is just faster, particularly the Kyogre bonus game and the fact you can use Zigzagoon to speed up the slots.
For the slots, every second spin allows you to catch a pokemon, every fourth you can evolve one, and every fifth you can advance to the next bonus game (which is why they are worth using).
There's still a lot of room for improvement, particularly in the Duskull bonus game and choosing when to activate Zigzagoon.

The reason Sapphire is faster than Ruby, is mainly Zigzagoon's ability to manipulate the slot (Kyogre's defeat animation being faster than Groudon's is relatively minor; Dusclops vs. Kecleon is pretty negligible); Makuhita was deemed useless on the Ruby TAS. Now, 100% Pokédex completion would be interesting (true you have to do both fields because of version exclusives, but the bulk of the work would be on Sapphire because of the slot)

Funny you should mention that - I've actually started the early stages of planning a Pokedex completion TAS. It'll take a mammoth amount of effort to route, and I may never actually get around to making a run, but I agree it would be interesting. Also, Sapphire wouldn't be best for all of it - while Sapphire is faster for most catching (and also travelling to get to the ruins), the Pokemon that are hatch exclusive would be best to get on ruby since it's so much faster to hatch on ruby than it is on sapphire.

Is it faster to hit the bumpers three times in a row during Catch 'Em Mode and sit through the animation or wait for the Pokemon to be revealed slowly? You do the latter most of the time, but I ask because you let the animation play out one time during the Ruby run. I also love how you activate the HOLE lights all in one go and catch Pokemon in one hit. It feels super cheaty, and that's why I love watching TAS. xD
