Just a reminder that in Super Monkey Ball, you don’t control the character, you control the _course._ Ai-Ai has no say in anything that’s happening, so he’s probably absolutely fucking _terrified_ at all the hot nonsense he’s being subjected to.

Incorrect. You control both.
@MarauderYT4 ай бұрын
@@pedrodu3626this is true in every title past banana blitz, but in the originals it was only the monkey you controlled. You can see in the replays that the stage never actually tilts.

Look at this dude, doing in 13 minutes something that took me 13 hours to do. Also, I never saw the Expert Extra or Master stages the entire time I ever owned a Super Monkey Ball 1 disc. "Expert" lived up to its name. So maddeningly difficult! D:

8:03 You Know A Run's Ridiculous When The TAS Uses Pause Buffering
@Gestersmek Жыл бұрын
While a funny thought, that isn't actually a pause buffer. The version of Dolphin used to make this TAS has a glitch that would cause inputs to be dropped for a frame while recording inputs, so the pause menu is brought up so that the dropped input doesn't affect gameplay.

it's not- it's a computer.
@pretzelbob16405 жыл бұрын
well, ok, it is and it isn't. a few humans created a table of inputs that a computer could consistently do over and over again. humans are inconsistent, computers are not. they essentially (i hate using this word) "program" the computer to play those same inputs over and over again, tweaking things slightly, to produce a "perfect" speedrun. i personally believe that a perfect speedrun (especially for a game like this) isn't possible, but this is the best we've got with everything currently known. anyway, all of that is what defines a TAS, or, a "Tool Assisted Speedrun." i'm a TASer myself, and if anyone who is more of an expert sees something wrong with this reply, then go ahead and roast me.

It's a computer I think. Maybe that's what the 'TAS' means. Then again I'm not sure, but this isn't humanly possible.
@LennonPlays8 жыл бұрын
yes. TAS stands for tool assisted speedrun.
@Dimondium7 жыл бұрын
Brandon_ well, it IS humanly possible - granted you need a couple hundred thousand/million entirely frame-perfect inputs, but humans are entirely capable of frame-perfect inputs repeatedly. In theory an insane amount of practice/luck would produce this exact result by a human on a controller - it's just super unlikely. For it to be actually humanly impossible, it'd have to have physically impossible inputs, like up and down on a control stick/d-pad simultaneously, like some TASes use. Impossible, no. But improbable? Very.

That's called a glitch goal. It's when you trigger a goal without breaking the goal tape. Replays with that don't break the tape, even if if did in gameplay.

This probably won't happen in the foreseeable future, unfortunately. Xbox emulation is unusable and PS2 emulation isn't much better, especially since it lacks many of the tools that would be essential to a TAS.
