This TAS makes Star Fox appear to run unusually smoothly because it was made on an older emulator that doesn't reproduce the copious lag present when playing it on a real SNES. Star Fox was designed and tested with this lag taken into account, so playing without said lag turns the game frantic-paced and nightmarishly difficult. This TAS is all the more fun to watch for it, console-accuracy be darned. ^_^

Kinda reminds me of the Perfect Dark (and leaked beta of the Goldeneye) Xbox360 port where the Framerate was far far better than before and just was absurdly smooth especially with massive explosions going off.

I feel sorry for those that were born after or very young during this games debut. This game was and still is a magic slice of gaming history whereby it showed a 2D gaming world a 3D game on console that should not have been possible at the time add to that the fact whoever was put in charge of the audio should have gone down in history as a God for making the sound track and and sfx. This game when released was something special, ground breaking and breath taking when gaming was still young and just picking up speed. And yes I 100%'ed all three routes, and still have my limited edition Starwing cap and certificate for placing in the top 10 in the UK when the game was being promoted.

I'm an 80's kid, became an electrical engineer. I have seen the development of all these systems, the creation of them, I know the technology and work put into them. It's quite amazing what we created. I worked on the XBox360 project, and don't be amazed or anything, I was just a small part of it. I was lucky to bring a lot of happiness to children in my lifetime. Isn't it impressive all this stuff is available though software simulation? We will provide this to generations. I'm creating a machine for my nephew that will have all this old stuff on it. Old isn't worse, it's just different. I kind of envy you because you could play this as a child, and I played it as an adult, you kind of lose appreciation for things as an adult but you'll never be amazed at being able to control a dot on the screen with Pong. I experienced that. My great aunt appreciated going to school in a horse and buggy, and seeing the moon landing. I can't appreciate that.

@@JAGtheTrekkieGEMINI1701 Looking back, it was an absolute privilege and a pleasure to bring all this "meaningless stuff" to you. Although it seems superficial to many, I enjoy creating joy and fun. I am so lucky to have been a small part of it. At times I have felt I was part of creating a worse, more horrible world, but now, I realize I haven't. I'm part of creating a better one. We're making a better world, despite what we're told. I hope we bring new and better things to new generations. It was a fun time wasn't it? I'm confident that over time, we'll bring better things to future generations. I can see the possible dystopia with Virtual Reality, and I worry that will disconnect us, but I can also see society rejecting it - which is a good thing. I think we're pulling back from the abyss. VR will disconnect us, but I'm entirely confident it's not going to be accepted. I am starting to see the future as a good and happy community, although we've gone through a rough patch. You might see this, properly, as rambling - but it's a joy to serve the public for me. I'm very grateful I was able to serve the public in a positive way.

Basically, I'm grateful to have had the ability and privilege to create stuff like this. It's such a joy to bring happiness to others. Very fortunate that I could be a part of it. Thousands of us work together to create this sort of thing, from the basic hardware, up to the software which is the only thing you really see. Quite a time to live in.

SNES9x 1.43 is used here. SNES9x 1.51 goes slower than normal. ZSNES has the same problems. Stunt Race FX is also problematic in SNES9x as you can barely finish in time due to being slower than normal. ZSNES goes a lot faster. bsnes lets you overclock the Super FX chip, use 6xBRZ, and 4K Mode 7. Overclocking it to 84 MHz on actual console requires heat sinks and cooling fans.
