If you ever get some time and feel like doing this again, you should do it with Tails tagging along using the cheat code. When this game first came out years ago, I was super bummed out that Tails no longer followed Sonic around. I was so happy to discover that code. In case you don't know it: Press up on Sonic, Down on Tails, L button on Knuckles and R button on Amy Rose. Then press A on Sonic. You'll get a ring sound if you did it correctly.

As far as I know, that's the requirement for Advance 2, but let me check... Apparently you need all Chaos Emeralds and finish the game as each character. Although I do think that in Advance 1, the Emeralds are counted in total so you don't need to get each 7 with every character (like you have to in Advance 2) Still kinda odd as it's not like Sonic's friends are really there or handing the Emeralds over to him at one point...

r543Blitzsonic Actually that’s the Requirement for unlocking Amy. To unlock the Super Sonic Stage in both games you have to finish the Game like Sonic Heroes, meaning get all emeralds in one story and finish the rest.
