Sonic CD feels like the Chaotix of the MegaCD era. The stages are big and weird and janky in places. There is literally never any reason to go to the future (except for Stage 3, which is always either good or bad future), they're just absolutely wasted design. The only things you need to do are to go to the past and destroy the machine, and then get all the chaos emeralds. That's it. Great soundtrack (for JP, and an okay one for US). The physics are also a little off. Perhaps if the chaos emerald rings were only in the future goal zone? At least that way, you'd need to go to the past _and_ the future for the best ending. Some interesting ideas as a game, but just a bit of a mess of execution. Fantastic TAS run of it, of course!
