[TAS] The Legendary Starfy Minigames

This is a TAS featuring the minigames in the Nintendo DS games, The Legendary Starfy played on a completed save file because three of the minigames have to be unlocked.

This and actually breaking my DS on the final boss fight are all I remember from these games. For those who didn't know, the final boss fight makes you mash Y beyond what I thought was possible to push a gaint meteor or something like that. You have to do that TWICE with the second one being so so so much harder... I never beat that one...

That final fight is what forced me to learn how to button mash. I was the only one that could even manage to beat Mushface at the time, and each time I would my little siblings would watch in anticipation as I attempted the final button mash. Time after time I failed, but then after all those moths of trying, I finally won. All three of us were ecstatic, after all this time beating the unbeatable, and seeing the ending to what was our favorite game. Going back and fighting him again after getting older, it's actually a really easy button mash, but to little 8-year-old me with much weaker muscles, it was the most intense thing of my life.

I can't remember how many times I had to redo that part luckily I was decent enough at button mashing at the time so it probably wasn't more than 5 which was a pretty good achievement for me as a kid

it also took me super long as a kid, i even remember watching video tutorials on that boss fight to try and see what techniques other people used to mash-ultimately i think i just handed off my ds to my parents who won for me :.)

@@callmecharlie4250 lol try me. I was not even in pre-k and I broke my thumb doing it. I did it tho. To bad I lost the game. It’s been so long I can only tell you the world order and how I got a intense headache off of the sky cloud levels. To a 3-4 year old, it was like doing war strategy.

I miss Starfy... Seeing that he's in Smash (albeit as an assist trophy), I can only hope for a potential remake/port of the Starfy games, especially since I've never played any of the other ones

It’s so interesting that there’s a whole bonus mode in this game telling you things about the earlier ones that no one in the US would understand if this was their introduction to the series. Just begging for more to get translated.

@@MicoDossun Agreed. And their whole reason for not bringing the previous games overseas is bullshit. They were worried there were too many references to Japanese culture that kids in western countries wouldn't get, but I *played* much of those older games, untranslated, and didn't notice many things that were overtly Japanese. They just feel like cute, quirky, colorful platformers, much like Kirby.

Wait, are some of these minigames not random? Or can you RNG manipulate fish spawns and stuff? I'd figure random spawn locations would break a programmed set of inputs

RNG is almost always defined by player input unless it is a server side game. Basically if the TAS does the same things every time it will result in the same outcome unless the game seeds the rng function using the system clock. Even then you can just make the tas script set the system clock to the same value every time. This is the same for all TASes that include rng components.
