===Description=== Time Crisis is a first-person on-rails light gun shooter series of arcade video games by Namco, introduced in 1995 It is focused on the exploits of a fictional international intelligence agency who assigns its best agents to deal with a major threat by a hostile organisation, which has ranged from criminals, terrorists, to hostile military outfits, and mostly take place within fictional locations across the world. The arcade series differed from other light gun shooters of its time by incorporating unique mechanics, including the ability to duck into cover to dodge attacks and reload the player's weapon, and forcing players to complete battles in each level within an allotted amount of time. Over time, the series developed to incorporate additional features of gameplay, including two-player co-operative modes on arcade machines, the ability to use additional weapons in combat, and dealing with dangerous events. Alongside arcade machines, the series was also developed for consoles, beginning with a port of the first installment to PlayStation consoles in 1995, with all ported versions of arcade titles featuring additional content and game mechanics, such as additional stages, and different difficulty modes. Alongside the main games in the series, it has spawned a number of spin-off titles that incorporate the cover mechanics and time limit gameplay elements, but with notable differences in combat situations and organisations involved in each game's story. ---From Wikipedia en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Time_Crisis For more information on this game and to read my comments on this TAS, click on the description section above. @@ens0246 I'm not gonna lie, every time I play Time Crisis 3, that one moment in Stage 1 Area 2 where the duo sees an air strike coming in and effortlessly dodge it by hiding behind the doorway and just staring at each other while the flames blow past them, I imitate it every time. It's just so cool.

Over the years, I always got the feeling that this game, rough as it is, had a certain quality that the later Namco shooters never recaptured, and after watching this again, I finally figured out what. The *urgency.* Notice that almost every second Richard isn't slaughtering foes, he's running like hell? It really looks like that he doesn't have a second to lose, that if he dawdles for even a moment, Rachel could die (or become a thrall of Wild Dog, which is arguably even worse). 2 had some nice cliffhanger moments, but it was clear that Keith and Robert weren't in any great hurry, and I never got the sense that Gen. Diaz's harebrained scheme ever had any chance of succeeding. 3 was an outright war, massive firepower taking precedence over speed. 4 resembled an Indiana Jones movie to me more than anything, nasty critters and a dark cave and an old enemy and a comical brawl. 5 was one of the slowest-paced Namco games I've ever played. Crisis Zone and Razing Storm, of course, were all about wreaking wholesale destruction and had lengthy boss fights. This is really the only one that comes across _as_ an actual time crisis.

I used to play this arcade for time killing while waiting for cinema in mall when i was in high school age. It's the only penny worthy arcade game i ever play because i can fill my time 11 minutes with thrill and fun with just 3 coins. I feel cool when people watching me on my back playing haha.. If no one in a row to play this game i always have 3 coins more to replay the game until cinema theater open. And yes you are true bro. The URGENCY. SIMPLICITY and FOCUS. The sequels always add the complication to the game. And we are all now grown up man not teenage anymore. But, imagine if that URGENCY philosophy always become the philosophy of our life. We must be more successful than now i believe. People in general dont have this Urgency in their life. They always think they'll live forever. I'm sorry to mix the topic but this really nailed my mind.

Well... I'd _also_ argue that an unforgiving timer that kills you long before the enemy does is a really big turnoff for a lot of players. Silent Scope was *really* bad about this. Only Monica, Hornet, and _occasionally_ Scorpion were any threat to your life bar; the rest of the time you'd be as healthy as a horse and that damned clock would "Oh no!" you into oblivion. The Police 911 games weren't much better; if you were any good at avoiding bullets, you could have four, seven, or a hundred lives (seriously, 100 lives was a thing you could earn in this game), and your sands would run out like any other's. Inevitably, everyone started doing the logical thing: make it easier to get killed. If you're going to eat credits, at least do it honestly. (I will say that Sega has been absolutely brutal in this regard. If I never play Deadstorm Pirates or Transformers to the end again, it'll be too soon.)

Wow man- huge game for me when I was a kid. I had the blue gun controller that actually recoiled when you'd fire in this game. It felt like you were discharging a weapon for real. Its so strange, the minutia of what sticks and engrains into your memory, like fibers in a rug after two foreign objects come together. When the music started in the game, I instinctively started humming along bc I knew the notes. the Picture of the guy's back view as he runs at @4:55- I've had that photo stuck in my brain since I played this. I just couldn't remember "what cartoon it was from". (I had myself half convinced it was from a cartoon I must've seen before) I haven't played this in 27 years. smh

I think other comments have said all that needs to be said about this legend but to add my little bit, this was the first arcade game I played where the physical gun actually had the mechanism where the top of the gun realistically popped back with each shot. I haven’t seen much of that these days, rather, the gun just vibrates. It felt so realistic and powerful. Coupled with having to engage with the foot pedal, it was so immersive at such an early time for 3D arcade games. Amazing game and an amazing TAS! Great job! Also that click at 14:41 always felt oddly satisfying 😂
