Thank you so much for uploading this. My 424 has this problem. The coil core was taking a ride outside the core. Easily repaired. Thanks again.

Thank you for the video! I have the same problem, but the solenoid mechanism is fine, the core is inside, the resistance is fine. Still, the playhead won't come up. Can you point me to a different direction where to find the fault? Thank you!
@3rdisland4773 жыл бұрын
Sorry for delay, please check the solenoid core and the lock part that moves by the solenoid if they move freely, other wise there may be an electronic defect on the control circuit

Hi, .. congratulations for the incredible video. few people can explain such a repair as well. I had a similar problem here. I have the same tascam, with a similar problem. but my solenoid is ok. but PLAY it doesn't "arm". when i press play he arms and disarms ... making a "klect-kletc-kletic" noise .. always. the reproduction head comes and goes, comes and goes ... and only stop when I press the "stop". would you have any "tip", "clue"....of what it could be? thank you so much!! best regards and cheers from brazil! :)

Hi, the selinoid is not holding the functions gear to the play position, try to check the little white plastic arm that moves by the selinoid and the spring that released it, some parts mybe stucked, good luck

Hey mate. Any advice on where the copper wires of the coil connect to the circuitboard? My solenoid detached in transit and I'm not sure how to reconnect it. Thanks!

Hello, i bought a 424 mki with the same problem that the head does not engage to play or record the tape, but when i opened it up to check the solenoid i found that it is actually missing. Does the solenoid for this model is easy to find and replace or do i have to look for parts made specifically by tascam? Thanks!
@3rdisland4775 жыл бұрын
These old machine are no longer on production line, you have to look for a parts machine

3rd Island, on my 424mkI track 4 doesn't seem to record. Signal will pass thru channel 4 with an instrument but doesn't seem to take to tape. Sync is not on. Can you suggest what to check? Thank you.
@3rdisland4774 жыл бұрын
The connector P510 check pin #2 if the signal is good then go to the caps arround ic U403 and check the signal on the caps where ever you miss the signal, that's the cap which needs to be replaced. Good luck

Hey! Im having different problem and was wondering if you could help me out. My MkI is just not turning on. No lights, No sounds, nothing. Any suggestions.

Hey, 1st thing is to check the power supply voltage, if you are using an original power supply other wise make sure that polarity is core negative /shield is posetive, 2nd, open the machine and check the power board, you may find a dry solder on the power jack or the power transistor, Please let me know if this could help, or will go deeply to folliw the issue, Good luck

Hey! I tried outa power supply with a Core negative and it turns on!!! Its only a 9v pwer supply not a 12v but im getting lights which I was not getting before!@@3rdisland477

i had to reinstall the solenoid but now all the lights on all four tracks are blinking whenever i attempt to press play. what does this mean?
@3rdisland4772 жыл бұрын
No thing wrong with your machine, just switch the track 4 switches to safe mode if you want to playback

@@3rdisland477 they are all on safe mode. it happens when i rewind or fast forward or try to record as well.

I had a similar issue but with mine it turned out that my motor was completely dead.
@3rdisland477 Жыл бұрын
Either you replace it or repair
@Drinkyoghurt Жыл бұрын
@@3rdisland477 Yeah, I replaced it with a similar motor from a Sony deck, but the pulley diameter is different so it runs slightly too fast. I need to either swap out the pulley or swap the circuit boards since the motors themselves are usually ok, it's the chip that dies.
