I used the DR-10L Pro for 2 weddings 2 weeks apart and it still had nearly full battery life, even after being on the groom for 8 hours during the first wedding!

the battery life is definitely an underrated upgrade on this!

For anyone wondering, at 2:30 that is not where the term float comes from 32 bit floating point integers are decimals that can be 32 digits long and the decimal point can move to give you any range numbers from 1^-32 to 1^32 It’s not the 0 db that moves or “floats” It’s the decimal point, and just 32 bits is more information per write cycle to store than 24 or 16 so technically the 32 is the buzz word

ive had my DR10Ls for years and Ive never had a problem with clipping or audio being too low. even though 32bit float is nice to have, i feel like i would never even need it. if you have the DR10L already, no need to upgrade

Yah I think this thing is super solid and if you're buying one now you should go with this, but if you've got some dr10l's probably not worth an automatic upgrade

What would be the best settings to use if I were to record with two of these recorders concurrently, podcast-style, attached to two different people at an arms length apart?

I put it on charge. And it doesn't seem to load. Need a specific setting?

How is this better than say the new Rode Wireless Pro? It has internal 32 bit float, charging case, 2 transmitters, and far more flexible than a mic that requires a lav...I don't understand how this is superior to the Rode AND the Rode is cheaper for 2 transmitters. Someone help me understand!

The new rode pro is a solid options as well but unless I"m wrong it's $400 and this is like $220 or something. Also, at least for weddings, you can't just clip a pack, however small, inconspicuously onto a groom or someone so you're going to be using a lav regardless unless you're hiding the rode in a pocket something and sacrificing quality. Also, I don't like using wireless in a wedding, too many variables and complications can arise that you can't do much about in a wedding setting. And I know the rode pro records internally and I haven't personally tested it BUT the previous rode models had a LOT of issues, many of which had to do with the internal recording and if that happens again then it just isn't reliable enough

Is it possible to control DR10 via bluetooth and simultaneously sync timecode?

When I plugged in my dr10l to band audio feed, I would sometimes get back unusable files and completely peaked audio or completely low audio both unusable, but yes, never a problem was a LAV only with someone talking...

The dr10l isn't made to be plugged into a board feed, you'd need a different type of recorder for that (love my zoom f3 and tascam dr40!)

@WeddingFilmSchool ... I do it all the time and it works great... mostly... any time it doesn't, it's because of a weird set up or connection with a random band or a new DJ with a conned together set up... if I go aux out of a speaker or a good board, it works great...

DR10L doesn't take line levels, so the times it doesn't work (on top of some of the things you mentioned) are because you're being sent a line level. It's SO cheap to have a proper recorder that can take a variety of inputs and levels and we definitely recommend it. Something might work 9/10 times but not every setup and scenario is the same, gotta be prepared for whatever they throw at you

I got a BIG problem here with my new DR10L Pro. I’ve used the previous version and love them. I’m REALLY missing the track increment feature. Having those 15minute chunks was WAY easier for the Final Cut to sync in post. Having to sync a short video file with a massive 6 hour file pretty much fails every time. Really wish they would have left it as an option as the previous generation worked so well for my needs. All I can hope for is a firmware update to put that feature back in. Right now I’m at a loss for what to do
@WeddingFilmSchool
@WeddingFilmSchool Жыл бұрын
I doubt it'll happen. That feature was for security and peace of mind knowing that your files saved every 15 minutes so if things shut off, worst case you only lost 15 minutes. Now it records constantly or near constantly inherently so that feature isn't needed. All that to say it wasn't for the purpose of making syncing easier. Can you roll cameras a little longer? I can't think of many scenarios at least in the way I shoot where I need to sync a super short 5 second clip within a longer doc edit or something

I much prefer Sony TX660 just because it has no wires and doesn't look like a mic.
