Those are some decent sounds. I take my Tascam 40x every where I go. I grab sounds from anything that comes to mind. I used them in my music recordings. I also use the 40x as a USB audio interface.
@Kivencito
@Kivencito 4 жыл бұрын
when you use it as usb interface with a condenser mic, does it needs the batteries? Thanks!
@oldschoollee
@oldschoollee 4 жыл бұрын
@@Kivencito 40x doesnt have 48v Phantom power. So it cant be used with high impedance condensers. When I use it as USB interface and with an external microphone, I use a dynamic microphone. That mode doesnt require batteries. Only existing Tascam Field recorder that is phantom powered is Tascam DR-100MKIII. Not sure if it can be used as a USB audio interface.
@oveesounds
@oveesounds 5 жыл бұрын
I'm also a big fan of Tascam products, unfortunately my favourite recorder which I have, the DR-100mkIII don't have possibility to record signal from it's internal mics and plugged in external mic at the same time. Just like in your case, it would give me the possibility to record "mono-in your face" signal from shotgun mic, and stereo from internal uni mics. I was so stupid that I realized that after purchase LOL.

Thanks for the video. That's a great compact setup! What's the name of the grip handle you have attached to your shotgun mic and the recorder? It seems really nice And how's your process after recording all these sounds in the workshops. Do you edit and name each individual sound for later organising or do you just leave them as they are?

I have a question about the set up. A shotgun mic like this one needs phantom power, doesn't it ? Isn't that too much for the battery of the Tascam ? How do you manage this aspect ? As for the video, it's a delight as usual... The sounds are rich and it's so nice to watch you explore objects in the environnement :)
@RobertDudzic
@RobertDudzic 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Iza, some mics need phantom power, some like for example the new RØDE NTG5 have build in battery, but TASCAM is handle this very well and the is no problem to use internal phantom power and you will have plenty time to record all you audio.

Can anyone help....? I've set up Record mode as INT STEREO / DUAL RECORD. Hit 'record' - flashes - set levels - hit record again - solid red. Then....it records for 5 seconds and stops recording and flashes red again. It then counts this 5 sec recording as a ''track'' in the Music Files. It's like there is a setting somewhere which is allowing only for 5 seconds of recording. Same thing happens if I use Ext Line In. PS... I've had this for 2 yrs but only learning to use it the last few days. I wonder if it is a software update issue. Any help much appreciated. Wanted to use it tonight....
