I appreciate how mellow the top end on the Tasman is. The smaller diaphragm and lack of hyped top end make this very usable on strident sources.

I feel like a dumdum again, but I actually liked the Tascam the most. It seemed most neutral out of all of them, without any shrillness or boostedness; just a nice, smooth and even signal. The song segment, both with the electric and the acoustic guitar, sounded particularly great - congrats on that melodic choice (I'd actually love it if you did something more with that melody and released it as a stand-alone entity; that sequence of chords really sounded dazingly good).

I agree with you 100%, Bandrew, as usual. The PreSonus and the 2020 would be my choices. The 18mm diameter capsule on the test Mic is more like a pencil condenser rather than the vocal mic profile the housing reflects. Here's a suggestion for off-shoot videos: Take a previously reviewed mic of the crappier variety and apply EQ techniques to make it sound like a winner on vocals. It would help educate budding bloggers, vloggers, and voice-over hopefuls.

I got one of these for $25 from some deal of the day a few years ago. It’s a pretty good mic, especially for that price. It will dent, it will scratch, it’s not the quietest, but it can do a good job of used right. I really don’t like it for it for voice at all but as a supplement to instrument mics it can add some sheen.

By far the best mic of the bunch. For $60-70? Overwhelmingly good, it reminds me some of the U89i character, flat and neutral sounding natural but not boring - really difficult to get this in this price range. I think it worths trying a pair. Thanks for your video.

That sounds pretty decent. The top end is a little bit jarring but for $60 you can't really complain too much. It sounds maybe marginally better than the C1 but the AT2020 does sound a bit better than the Tascam which isn't really too much of a surprise given the price difference. Would've liked to see this compared to the Worker Bee. It sounds really nice on the electric guitar. On acoustic, you really can't complain too much. It has a nice edge for vocals- it really comes through in the mix.

The tascam has the least frequency spike BS going on. Its all mids but its response is smoother than the competition. Smooth response is important cause it sounds natural and you can maybe doctor up smooth without really weird or severe eq cuts, mics with hard spikes, not so much. I was looking into this mic because i saw an engineer say a pair of these mics won out against a pair of u87s on a piano he was recording, granted that may have been a special case scenario, i really doubt the same would be possible for the other mics in this video. The Tascam does have some honk but it stays musical. And $60? That's less than an sm57 goes for!...

I bought a Tascam TM-80 the other week. Normally I scour YT for reviews from you, Curtis Judd or Booth Junkie but there weren't any so I took a risk and got it anyway - it was pretty cheap! For less than £60 I can't really fault it especially as I use a Tascam DR-60D field recorder. I intend to use it out and about in the field for recordings or interviews. It sounds good (it suits my voice okay) and at that price it isn't the end of the world if it gets scratched or dented when I'm in the field.

Hi, I produce music as a hobby, so please if you can review one in my opinion a very good and not so expensive microphone ... This is an almost unknown brand "On Stage" and the model of the Microphone is AS800. To my taste it sounds fantastic. I think that would help this community in purchasing a lower price range microphone. At this price range, I own a Tascam TM-80 and AT2020 and I think the above model is better than both of them (but that’s just my humble opinion). I also had an Aston Element, for a full half hour 😧, and returned it to the store immediately, because it's an awful-sounding microphone. If I had known about your channel then, and looked at the review of the Ason Element microphone, I would never have bought it. Thanks to you and your work. we can all learn a lot. The TascamTM-80 is a utility microphone that doesn't really stink for any application. It works on a guitar cab or acoustic guitar and can be used as a drum overhead. It would never be my main microphone but I would always keep a couple of them in the bag. Here's a secret for you. It's an electret condenser microphone with a very simple PCB board, capsule saddle and capsule all-in-one unit. The main body of the mic is empty and just has a piece of foam stuffed in it. One of the most popular USB mics ever is also an electret condenser but I'm not naming names.

Which one is the best between behringer c-1 and tascam tm-80
@hxhdfjifzirstc8943 жыл бұрын
First thoughts: Damn that Behringer sounds unuseable (way too much sizzle hype). I actually really like the sound of this Tascam on your voice. It sounds natural, with no hype. I'm a huge fan of AudioTechnica for home recording, but I disliked the AT2020 in this video (although not as much as the Behringer turd). The Priusonus also had that cheap hype sound, but probably still useable. So this $60 Tascam mic is my clear favorite, of these 4 cheapos... And I have absolutely no use for a $60 mic. Anybody that wants a cheap mic for their first podcast or youtube video should try this one out, and maybe compare it to an 'accepted standard' mic like SM57.
@DrustIV3 жыл бұрын
My thoughts exactly. I'm a fan of Audio Technica too but I thought the Tascam was more refined than the AT2020. As for the Behringer, what a mess; coarse & brittle - first time I've heard one in a comparison. I have no use for a new mic but this guy makes me laugh!

Guess I got a bad one with the interface bundle. Mine will NOT handle the SPL from a guitar amp. Even at a few feet off it just distorts. It’s okay for vocals, but very shrill and so takes more processing and EQ than I’d prefer. But I still use it, it’s not terrible.

The Tascam sounds similar but not as good as to the AT2020 (as far as I know, both are small diaphragm capsules). Unfortunatelly, mine (Tascam) is out-of-order, so I don’t know if worth sending it for repair, due to it is a low cost Mic.

I guess you could use it right into your computer with an xlr to usb cable, but that most likely is not going to make the mic sound as good as it can be, and its gonna take more tweaking to sound decent, so definitely get a little mixer or an interface, there is nice and cheap ones like behringer xenyx302usb and behringer um2 that are worth it in my opinion

Tascam nice and smooth, sounds a bit vintage, almost dynamic like but with extended highs. Presonus is bright, but boxy and boomy in midrange. C1 is junk. AT wins for clarity and neutrality, but lacks the character of the Tascam, that’s to say that they are both decent but will have different applications, like all mics! Neewer sounds decent from far away, but when you get a bit closer, like a group of ugly girls, you realize you’ll be looking for the next best thing very soon.
