If Tashigi does have Shimotsuki blood, I see the first family tree options being most likely. However I prefer the idea that Tashigi is just completely coincidentally similar, because it gave Zoro more conflict seeing someone look like his friend and even following a similar dream involving swordsmanship.

In One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 Tashigi, Smoker and the Grand Fleet came to Wano and helped out in the fight with Kaido since the Wano arc in the manga they had to change how the fight ended so no gear 5 but it was also pretty cool to see them all in Wano

I think Tashigi and Zoro are so far apart in their family tree that they could get together. It's like the uchihas. But he might also end up with Momo's sister Hiyori. Those are the two I can see him ending up with.

Tashigi's hair is black in the manga (like in covers and color spreads) but has blue highlights in the anime. Other characters have similar highlights, for example Makino has green highlights but her hair in the manga is actually black. It's because of the way anime hair was colored back then.

The ancestry for Tashigi could also be Kuina's mom and Tashigi's mom or dad are related (cousin or siblings) so Tashigi is not of Shimotsuki blood but still influenced by the culture of Wano

Tashigi could actually be the daughter of one of the other 22 people that left Wano (or more precisely the 15 that didn't stay in Shimotsuki Village). Roger was ~53 years old when Ace was born and would be 77 if he were still alive. We don't know the ages those that left Wano 55 years ago, so there could've been someone in their early 20s, who then fathered Tashigi in their early 50s. I don't consider it likely, but it's not impossible and in the end it doesn't really matter, if there's a generation in the middle or not. Please, correct me, if I'm wrong with anything.

Based on how surnames started, or how surnames became more common, you don't technically have to be related to everyone with the same last name as you... There could be several different families with the same surname, all started separate from each other. I know, with my surname (not revealing it), it is a pretty rare surname, and, at least in the US, there are only like, 2 or 3 families with the name, but we are all distantly related to each other (though one branch, apparently, according to my father, was adopted in to the family several generations ago, but that still counts) But, then, if you go back a couple generations to my grandma's maiden name, there are a TON of families with that surname, and there are very little relation between us. The name is named after a town in Germany, and the town was named after a family of nobles. Some with the name are related to the nobles, but most are just named after the town.

Technically speaking having the same last name doesnt mean being distantly related. A lot of last names were based off of careers--like baker--or, in terms of the US, were changed at Ellis Island due to miscommunications or not knowing how to spell things. Still fun to think about though. And I like these different possibilities for Tashigi's lineage.

I never expected tashigi to come to wano but I’d be very happy if, now that wano clearly isn’t as isolated, Oda wrote a cover story series of Tashigi and Smoker’s adventures in Wano. Would work great narratively assuming at some point they’re going to be on the strawhat’s side in whatever capacity. Imagine them rolling around wano talking to everyone who loves the strawhats and learning about what green bull tried to do. Tashigi getting to nerd out about swords and maybe even learning about Zoro’s family history. Would be awesome

In my eyes Tashigi looks quite similar to young Tsuru so i would not be surprised if Tsuru is Tashigi's grand mother. And since Wano closed itself off, it's entirely possible that some Shimotsuki's who were travelling could not return home. So Tashigi could just be a very distant relative of Kuina. I believe that Tsuru was stated to be from the north blue so i doubt she is Kozaburo's sister.

Blue is often used to indicate the shading that black hair can give under sunlight, or shimmering and glossy black hair. In Chinese literature, for example, it's often said that young people have "blue hair", which is not literally blue. I don't know if modern manga artists use blue to shade black, but I wouldn't be surprised, since full 100% black wouldn't give depth to the hair.

My theory is that Wado Ichimonji is a cursed blade that messes with its users sense of direction. After the duel with Zorro, where they dedicated themselves being the greatest swordsman Wado awakened, and maybe when Kuina was going up the stairs she could of been going the other direction and tripped. That’s why zoro is always getting lost.

Ok I have a bit of theory here what if Kuoshiro had a twin brother who left Shimotsuki village with Shigure (another sword that Kozaburo made along with Sandai Kitetsu) who wanted to go off & explore later ending up with a women somewhere near Loguetown where later Tashigi is born (Vivre card says born in the East Blue) then her father teaching her the ways in the blade during her childhood up until he was killed which the killer took Sandai Kitetsu (which keep causing the death of the welder) ending up being sold to Ipponmatsu which would explain why he had a sword that Sukiyaki made & give a reason for Tashigi’s goal in trying to get notable named swords out of the hands of villains

They also did the color thing with Zoro’s pants and Bandana post ts, it’s like they take black and then tint it with another color, in zoro’s case it was a straight green color all around the outside of his pants and bandana, with tashigi it was more of a tint, thus the dark blue look, it’s a weird thing alot of anime do like in Naruto, Hinata’s hair is stated to be dark blue while Sasuke’s hair which in most instances has that same blue shade, is actually black.

If Tashigis grandfather was Kozaburo's then Kuina in Tashigi would be third cousins. Their fathers would be first cousins to each other. And Kuina's father would be Tashigis second cousin. If you move down family line one level can you got to add one. If you move down the family line one on both sides then you got to add 2.

Bruh I was thinking this!!! Remember the whole deal with Tashigi being VERY similar to Kuina back then which sparked many over the top theories. I just thought of something which would make a lot of sense. The recent sbs stated that 25 Shimotsuki members sailed from Wano. After they saved a village from mountain bandits in the east blue, only 10 members decided to settle thus founding the Shimotsuki Village. After reading it again, I thought to myself, "What happened to the other 15?". That's when I thought about the possibility that Tashigi might be descended from one of the 15 Wano immigrants who didn't settle in Shimotsuki Village. This theory would make a lot of sense and would explain her uncanny resemblance with Kuina. She's basically a long distance relative. It'd also add to how she's very knowledgeable on almost every famous sword.

Zoro looks like a copy-paste from Ryuma, and there are like 10 generations between them, while Bonney looks like Connie, but there's only one generation between them. Kuina and Tashigi are on the same generation, but on different branches of the family tree, and they both look the same as well, so it's even likely than a female ancestor of them looked like them. As for dominant genes, yes, they are dominant, but not 100% infallible. My father has brown eyes, my mother had brown eyes, my brother has stunning light blue eyes, I have hazel eyes

Oda actually said in an interview back in 2009 (source: American Shonen Jump #7) that Tashigi and Kuina's resemblance is a coincidence and there's no relation. Of course he could change his mind now, but I think there's really no relation.

Another option of how Kuina and Tashigi are related is that Tashigi mother just birthed Tashigi and Pirates attack the village where that hospital. Kills Tashigi's Dad, Kidnaps the Mother and after robbing the City for cash/suppliers leave the place. Tho the docter manage to save baby tashigi. Later on the Pirates arrive at shimotshiku Village and Kuzaburo and defeated the pirates. Save Tashigi mother. Later on Kuina is born. After Kuina birth Tashigi/Kuina Mother leave Shimotsuki Village to search for Tashigi. After a couple months one the patients on that hospital where she birthed Tashigi informs her about that docter's whearabouts and his retirement. Finally finds the Docter and he tells her that he handed Tashigi offer to the Navy to raise her as a navy soldier. Soon after that Tashigi/Kuina mother tries to set sail but she caught an disease during her Journey so the retired Docter finds her and makes an attempt to cure her but without the proper supplies she can only delay the process of her disease and couple days later she dies.

Tekking, a clan isn't just a random collection of people with the same last name. Members of a clan are all blood related, granted it could be a very distant relation but there has to be some blood connection for it to be considered a clan. On the other hand, just cause people have the same lame doesn't automatically mean they have a blood relation. For example if Tashigi turned out to be Koushirou's daughter she would be related to both Zoro and Kuina and would be considered part of the Shimotsuki clan, but if Kuina and Tashigi had the same mother then Tashigi wouldn't be related to Zoro, even in a scenario where like Tashigi's mother brought her with her when she remarried and they both took on the Shimotsuki name, Tashigi couldn't be considered part of the clan cause she doesn't have any Shimotsuki blood.

Yeah, as a huge Zoro fan, to me, it is not that bad for Zoro's family that got revealed in SBS. Though I honestly do understand why most Zoro fans and maybe some non-Zoro fans that are disappointed or upset. I wouldn't say I liked how it was done but I'm glad to know a little more about Zoro and his family background. Really, It would've been nice to know them in the story even if it is important or not even important but that might still happen in the future which I still think and hope. This is not a big reminder but don't forget, there "may" still be an important plot for Zoro and lore in the future before One Piece series end. 👍⚔

I always thought kawina and Tashiki were twins and separated at birth or possibly tashiki was presumed to be dead but was given to another family for protection incase if someone tried to hurt their family but I think tashiki is kawina but she lost her memory and her sister was the one who died protecting her sister. Give it to Mr "Tekking Tek Pagasus Crawford 101" to make something so thourough I personally thought of the last two possibilities waaaaay before the SBS Also the hair colour theory is DEFINITELY relevant: all the red hairs in Naruto is from the Uzumaki clan, Naruto's isn't because he's mixed with Namikaze blood In One Piece there are other traits based on clans, there's another mysterious "long nose tribe" nobody ever mentions and it's likely there are two or more "long noses" Clan 1: Usopp, Banchina, Catarina Devon Clan 2: Foxy, Chorlotte Mont-d'or" Clan 3: Kaku Although it is possible that clan 2 or 3 are the "male equivalent" of clan 1

How about this. Koushiro, being a swordmaster and strict when it comes to women being swordsman, had a first wife who happened to be one of his former students. She gets pregnant, something happens (maybe government related since we know they like taking in children) and ultimately Tashigis mother dies/wants to use her swordskills for the governement. Koshiro becomes saddened by whatever happens and adopts this hard stance on women becoming swordman. Then he meets another woman, Kuina happens, and she persists in becoming a master swordsman much like Tashigis mother. Not sure if Oda would delve this far into Tashigi's background but it would definitely be an Oda thing to do
