This really is it. I cannot think of anyone in the US who would have the same kind of chemistry. Anyone who might be "as funny" wouldn't have the same twist of charm - it's hard to describe, but this just works, with the British humor, and with these two men very, very specifically.

@@Elwaves2925 whether he smokes or not, that doesn't sound like he's got a croaky voice from smoking.. if he smokes, wouldn't he always have a croaky voice and not just on a random tuesday? to me it sounds like he's just got a cold or sth...

@@jongininikim5219 Possibly but not necessarily and that's also why I offered an alternative possibilty. Smoking doesn't have to lead to a croaky voice but it can make it worse when the throat is stressed, through interviews, illness and so on. Ultimately, I don't know the reason and was only offering possibilities because he is a smoker. 🙂

@@musical3lottie Taskmaster Series 6 Episode 1. During the wheelbarrow task both he and Russell Howard smoke. So yes he does smoke, or at least he did at that time.

Personally I think it could still work fine, but the formatting NEEDS to be right. The studio time with the cast is as important if not more important than the actual tasks (and they need to be full hour episodes)

I think that's just part of it. I think Reggie Watts was a terrible choice for the taskmaster and that it may have been better for Alex to actually be less involved in let the Americans do their own thing. If you gave it to someone like Conan O'Brien I think that could be hilarious.

Everyone universally makes it a given that he would be awesome for that show, so not only does he need to battle the Tasks, he also battles against people's expectations, and that's not a good position to be in.

@@charisma-hornum-fries I also think it goes back to the roots of the show, because it started at the Edinburgh fringe as a sort of sideshow with the comedians who were already up there. Everybody sort of works with each other a lot in the UK and knows each other. I don't how if there's an equivalent in the US or whether its generally more competitive/high-stakes.

Comedians in the US wouldnt do this show they would want so much money for their time because they think them being on the show is doing the show a favor and giving the show exposure while in Britain the comedians go on the show for exposute. Ryan Gosling would 100% do this show and I think Kevin Hart would maybeeee be funny but american comedians are just bigger than uk ones and would intentionally or unintentionally make it about themselves

They might be bigger but that's not the point of Taskmaster. Whenever massive egos are on the show they have to adapt to fit the show. Otherwise, they'll get annoying and takes away the fun.

I would say that with how small the industry is in the UK, with many talents working different shows and often running into each-other, the interaction between the comedians is much more genuine because of their familiarity with one another.

The Taskmaster App is an insult to all the fans. They used to put everything on KZbin as soon as they aired. And now they won't put the full shows on the app. I refuse to pay for something they used to put up for free. They've really alienated their fans doing this.
