The day we left our lodgings after a week near Hobart we actually saw the top of Mount Wellington for the first time. We both, nearly at the same time, said that we had to take the detour and ride to the top of the mountain. It was a glorious morning after days of rain, sleet and low temperatures. So glad we had the opportunity to visit this beautiful landmark. The air was crisp but the sunshine was warm and the view was spectacular. We spent quite a while wandering around the top of the mountain, trying to imagine what it would look like covered in snow, but very glad it wasn't. Anyway, we had all day to ride back to Devenport for our overnight stay before boarding the return day ferry to Geelong the next day. We rode back through Queenstown, Strahan and even managed a quick stop at Cradle Mountain again......this time with more favourable weather.
