Con l'oceano di fronte si deve scendere dalla bicicletta per qualche giorno, soprattutto per rendersi conto in che posto siamo finiti. Le onde restituiscono alla spiaggia alghe giganti come canotti, il vento freddo rende terso il cielo. Il cuore selvaggio della Tasmania ci si apre davanti un po' alla volta al ritmo lento delle pedalate. E ci costringe a rinunciare al comfort. I rari alloggi vanno prenotati con qualche giorno d'anticipo, altrimenti si dorme nei boschi o in qualche camping isolato in località in cui il termine turismo significa vivere nella natura ma anche semplificarsi la vita. Non siamo abituati a queste notti silenziose e ai loro animali! La visita notturna di un opossum affamato ci fa sobbalzare nella tenda. Com'è fatto un opossum? Morde ? Mandalo via tu !
We decide to get off the bike for a few days by the ocean, at least for a few days, just to see the place where we have ended up. The wild heart of Tasmania opens up before us little by little at the slow pace of pedaling and we have to give up any comfort. The rare accommodations must be booked a few days in advance, otherwise you can only sleep in the woods or in some isolated campsite in places where tourism means living in nature but also experiencing a simpler life. We are not used to these silent nights and their animals! A night visit from a hungry possum makes us startle in the tent. What does a possum look like? Does it bite? Scare it away!
