Tasmania 'Rail Revival' 1989 Part 1, Steam to Rosebery

Part 1 of 3 from a project from back in 1989 that covered 2 steam specials in Tasmania. Later on the 3rd part will cover some freight workings from the time.
It was originally shot on 3/4 inch U-matic / BVU and lumbering this around, especially when shooting all around and in locos, carriages etc, was no easy task!
The field tapes were then transferred to Betacam SP for editing and mastering.
The assistance and guidance from those consummate ABC professionals at the time continues to be appreciated all these years later.

Would have loved to hear the sound of these beauties as they travelled through the Denison Gorge section of the NE rail corridor.

It could but a cooperative needs to be formed now. Not how train preservation has been done in the past...but get statistical facts . The train won't make money but enterprise and community, camping ,activity hosputalityat each end ..Lebrina -Denison Gorge will work and return a profit and career jobs after five years..But Tasmania...ohhum.

We certainly could see this again, and often, if only the Tasmanian Government got their act together and gave rail access to the rail preservation groups.

Thanks. The next part is more interesting with a greater variety of shots, from Burnie to Wiltshire Jct. Will put that up in a couple of weeks - working on a couple of other things just now.

What would you think about the 4-2-0 Beyer Peacock locomotive hauling out of Denison Gorge with similar open carriages as Puffing Billy? Campers, bike riders, locals and visitors?
