The Tasmanian Dam Case, decided by the High Court of Australia in 1983, is one of the most important cases of the last 50 years. The issue around the construction of a Dam on the Gordon below Franklin River in Tasmania ended up with a decision of the High Court about the extent of the corporations power of section 51 (xx), and of the external affairs power, of s51 (xxix) of the Australian Constitution.
