The history of the aboriginal people in Tasmania serves as a reminder of the importance of acknowledging and respecting the indigenous cultures and histories that existed long before the arrival of outsiders. 🐅Please watch this video in conjuction with these comments - The Tasmanian tiger, also known as the thylacine (scientific name: Thylacinus cynocephalus), was a carnivorous marsupial native to Tasmania, Australia, and New Guinea. The thylacine resembled a large dog or wolf with a pouch in females similar to that of kangaroos. Human activities, including habitat destruction, hunting by European settlers, and disease, are believed to have contributed to the decline of the thylacine population. The thylacine story serves as a cautionary tale about the impact of human activities on vulnerable species.🐅 🐨Other species were introduced, some survived, and some like the koala did not. There are no koalas in Tasmania. And then there was the story of the upright wombat. The artist had obviously not seen a wombat in real life and assumed it would be more like a bear.🐻
