Fishing Flooded Lake Margins | Huntsman Lake | Winter Trout | TFA #56

As Huntsman Lake starts filling up, the hungry brown trout start to push into the flooded margins in the search of food. Casting lures amongst these shallow areas was very successful for some well-conditioned Tassie trout. Stay tuned for a touch of fly fishing at the end, and constant platypus sightings along the way!

Pretty good day out! I've fly fished the lake a couple of times and never hooked anything although had plenty of follows. But that was when the lake has been much higher. Will be in Tassie again this summer and will be giving it another crack for sure.

Yeah I was pleasantly surprised by how good it was. If you're visiting in summer I'd probably fish in other places, that being said a good storm that gets the lake rising in summer can lead to epic sight fishing with large dries

The good thing about that is that it takes longer for the lake to fill... So more time to enjoy good fishing conditions as the lake rises
