HI Nicholas, Thanks so much for your videos. I have a question around sour herbes and acute pathogenic cases. When many people have a wind cold invasion, they turn to lemon drink...will the sour in the lemon potentially lock the pathogen in the body for longer?

It's similar to Indian ayurveda... Wherein the herbs have various properties... And the patient to is of a particular personality... Vaat( air) pitta ( fire) kafa( phlegm)
@allthegoodstuff33943 ай бұрын
In ayurveda... We have sweet sour salty bitter astringent and pungent ( spicy) Of these the others don't need explanation... But astringent is like the taste of an Indian gooseberry or amla...

Thank you for the excellent videos. In one of the comments below there was mention of the store bought tablets of herbs (turmeric, cinnamon), when the herbs are prepared in capsules like that, do they keep the herbs' properties?
@tcmstudy4 жыл бұрын
I assume so. However, it could be that in the stores they use cinnamon that's grown somewhere other than China (cassia vs. ceylon). I don't know if that gives it different properties or not.

I want to be a traveling herbalist but i like western and chinese Herbologists ideologies. I’m confused on what to do.

Have you already made a video that talks more about Yin and yang along witch chi? ToT sorry 😐. Okay, tell me if I got this or not. Yin is strictly temperature of the body? And yin is hot? Yin is temperature of an organ? Yang is the same but its Temperature is cold. Is chi the Youthfulness of the Oregon? As in how well it is functioning like a well oiled machine?
@dilettanter4 жыл бұрын
Google yin and yang for more details. But i think you got the temperatures of yin and yang reversed, and they cover other aspects too
@jrobertgadams77664 жыл бұрын
I think you haven't been around Western Herbalists for a while .. because even if yes, the idea can be, take ginger for an upset stomach, it is way more than that and we learn also as in TCM Herbology, how to work with the tastes, temperatures, natures and directions. Yes, even in Western Herbalism.
@jrobertgadams77664 жыл бұрын
and i am a TCM Practitioner.
@tcmstudy4 жыл бұрын
Oh, that’s interesting. Do the properties fit in with their methods of diagnosis and treatment as well? In this video, I’m mostly speaking about what my American patients understand about herbs through what they see from popular media. When I mention herbs to them, they think of the supplement section at Whole Foods, or things like, “taking cinnamon capsules helps my blood sugar, turmeric is good for inflammation.”
@jrobertgadams77664 жыл бұрын
Yes, they do. If you look into Matthew Wood, Paul Bergner , Sajha and others, they will all go into conditions (patterns) to see what’s what. No one will give Ginko just because it is ‘good for the Brain’. But sure, patients, clients are looking at herbs the same way they are looking at medications. Sad but true. If the Herbalist falls in that trap, it’s over. Happy to say that many understands the need to go beyond the easy way. To work with WHO is in front and not just to give and pay. Appreciate your videos by the way :)
@dilettanter4 жыл бұрын
@@jrobertgadams7766 I love Mathew Wood, and Paul Berger,. Thanks of the list, I’ll look into Sajha too and any others you care to list? :) By the way, what does WHO stand for?

? 9:00 you said yin do did you mean yang? or I may be confused somewere.
@tcmstudy4 жыл бұрын
Hi Bailey! With acrid herbs, we would be cautious in cases of Qi deficiency and Yin deficiency. Some acrid herbs promote sweating, so long term use might cause loss of Yin-Fluids. And in general, acrid herbs tend to be warm and drying, so there’s a potential they could exacerbate symptoms if the patient is already dry (as in Yin deficiency).
