I started practicing Silat and Escrima when I was 16 YO in 1993. In 2008, I decided to switch to Tai Chi. One Summer Vacation from life I stumbled upon Mantak Chia books at a New Age Bookstore. He teaches all types of interesting stuff about Chi. It's difficult to find a TCM teacher who knows Internal Chinese Martial Arts. There are all types of things you will know that will shape your TCM, that you will feel should be taught in your TCM school, yet aren't!

Hi there! This video came at a great time. Funny, I often though of becoming a monk and it was inspiring to see that you did it for as long needed. I have applied to the City College school of Acupuncture in London and I am taking separate courses in Herbology from Shenzhou :) Not sure if you have heard about them. I applied to Nunm and can luckily afford it but find it hard to give a reason for such inmense financial difference. The cost is 150,000 euros different.

Do you have a significant perspective on classical versus traditional Chinese medicine now that you’re out of school? I notice you tend to use the terms interchangeably on some of your channel, but I also know the emphasis NUNM places on the classical piece of their program.

I had no clue how expensive it probably is. I come from a dirt poor family there is no way I could probably put myself through school. I have always been interested in holistic medicine, I grew up as a wrestler so diet and nutrition have always been a big part of my life. I was actually looking into doing massage therapy school, however unfortunately as I was helping to coach high school wrestlers, I fractured my left hand in a few places, and the surgeons never corrected the alignment of my fifth digit and it happened right at the MCP joint. I have good mobility but the joint is slightly displaced. And definitely bothers me here and there. I got several x-rays and CT scans so I don’t think the radiation was any better either. Attributing to necrosis and tissue damage. I have been trying to rehab it with a great deal of herbs and remedies, but AnyWho I was thinking that maybe pursuing acupuncture would be a lot less hard on my body and specifically my hands. I am just pretty doubtful because I’ll be honest, I am not the smartest person. I took applied math courses through school and studied communications for my undergrad so I have zero coursework in biology chemistry really or anatomy and physiology. I don’t know if I have what it takes to go through the schooling. Is it very difficult? Seems like you have to be a brainiac to study this field. How long were your programs and how much do they cost

Thank you for this guidance! I will be starting a program in January at the only school we have here on the island which I trust and feel comfortable to attend given that we’re a tight community. I was wondering if you had any general advice for going through school? It’s been a while since I’ve been in school and I am greatly looking forward to the whole experience, but of course there are some natural nerves with embarking on a new journey.

I really enjoyed your video and found it helpful. I also want to study oriental medicine, I am a high school senior that’s about to graduate and I would really appreciate some more specific advice for my situation if possible. My grandpa is a licensed oriental doctor and he barely speaks English because my family is Cuban and he’s been a doctor in 4 different countries throughout his life. What I need help and advice in is choosing a school because as an 18 year old it’s hard to try to place my self in the future and truly see what I want and what is best both financially and in term of hardship. If you’re reading this I’d like to ask you if we could do a zoom call or maybe FaceTime, I feel like you could truly help me. Thank you and have a good day!!

Why not study in China, i don't understand, could you please explain better? It's much cheaper and surely they are more skilled than Americans or European schools.. , especially in the UE there are no good school for TCM, and the tuition fees are extremely high... Why not study in China??

I found the Chinese schools to be disappointing. It's like 50% of a biomedical, standard western medical education. Most of my friends who went there don't recommend it.But it is cheaper.

My mum is a MD in oncology in China, she doesn't recommend me to study in TCM academy inside China, because the education system is not authentic as private mentorship. A lot of new graduate of 4yrs of university TCM major in China, going to work as Dr in her hospital, still follow software to prescribe, It's sad.

@@touriagasmi3525 Learning traditional medicine is a life-long journey, you may start from where you find the most appealing to your heart, in the present. When you are on this path, the right teacher will come to you. I have more than one teacher and have been taking courses at more than one school for herbal medicine, I find myself benefit from all of the experience.

@@touriagasmi3525 Chinese medicine was gutted by the CCP. There are speakers of languages who know the language better than those who have it as their mother tongue. Just because it started in China does not mean it is more authentic or effective learning from somebody Chinese, etc.
