You guys need to find a Rocket Fizz and check them out. Old school candies like candy cigarettes and taffy as was as a fuck ton of sodas. Mostly real sugar ones. The location that was near me before I moved had around 300 different ones. It's a cool franchised chain. That soda you drank from Rocket Fizz is part of their pretty good sized line of sodas that you can get in their shops as well.

Honestly they're just performing a different method of communicating. It's just so new in today's society that it's frowned upon and looked down on, but it's just society evolving with the technology around them. In a decade or so it won't be as taboo because the people who didn't grow up with it will have died out, decreasing the stigma and making it more the norm.
