I was a roadie after my stint in the Air Force, he hired this starving veteran and took me all the way to Houston Texas. Working and eating the whole way, I got to meet a lot of stars then along the way. I’ll never forget his kindness and love of exploration, I count him as one of a few of best friends. Very intelligent and inspiring seeing past the veneer of everyday life.

I never met Jimmy Buffet. I watched him on TV countless times. I heard his Music countless times. My heart hurts right now. I know it’s crazy, but I feel like I knew him personally. I feel such a sadness over his passing, and for his family. Praying for this entire family during this very difficult time. May they find the Peace & Comfort they need to get through this. @@duchessduke7142 Yep, Mississippi produced those two Greats, among many others. "I come from where the rivers meet the sea,..That's part of why I'm so wild and fancy free" ("Floridays"-JB). Me too, for Jimmy lived across the street from me as young boys and those rivers were the Pascagoula and Singing Rivers that meet the Gulf at the Mississippi Sound, three miles apart,... our old sailing, fishing, swimming and stomping grounds when we were all "so wild and fancy free". We had a ball and loved every minute of it. No surprise to me that Jimmy grew up true to his happy, kind nature, pursued his musical career through thick and thin, giving joy and happiness to millions world wide. But, his passing did surprise me and, like you, has given me a profound sadness,... one that can only be erased by his mirthful music now. Sail On, Sailor's Son!

Jimmy Buffett wasn't just a singer and songwriter. He was a poet, and a poet for the ages because he could felicitously and amusedly touch a nerve of the human condition that only a poet could touch. His touch was one of understanding, compassion, amusement and self-deprecation in doing what we all need to do, especially today-- laugh inwardly and appreciatively at ourselves. That his work allows us to do this so naturally and unashamedly is why his songs are important and will stay with us forever. It's also why he'll be loved forever, too.

I was at Keith Urbans Atlantic City show and the 2’nd and witnessed his tribute to Jimmy. It was surreal to hear the entire arena sing along with Keith! Fins Up Mr. Buffett. You will be sorely missed.

Jimmy's passing has been one of the hardest ones I've ever had to deal with for an artist I truly enjoyed, it's almost as if I lost a relative, he just meant that much to so many people and I was blessed to have seen him three times in concert and I never get tired of hearing those songs they always take me to a happy place. rest in peace Captain🏴‍☠️🌴⛵️🏄‍♂️🍺🦈🍔😢

Same thing I felt like I had lost a family member. I suppose Jimmy made us all feel like part of the family. I also got to see him in concert three times. Once with his daughter when she was little and he took a break when it was her bedtime to put her to bed. It was a small venue in Jacksonville where they held dance recitals and such. not more than 300 people (before Margaritaville) and it was just Jimmy and his guitar (savannah Jane played bongos before she went to bed. I will never forget that.

I’ve have a smile on my face and tear in my eye. Jimmy Buffett wasn’t the best singer, he wasn’t the greatest guitarist, but he was one hell of a preformer. His music and lyrics painted a picture that spoke to so many peoples souls. He never disappointed at a concert. He always showed up. And he was always excited to have a good time with his fans and his enthusiasm was infectious. I’ve been to many concerts in my lifetime and it’s kind of hard to describe a Buffett show to someone who hasn’t actually experienced it. Sometimes it wasn’t even about the music. Just a big happy magical beach party. They are more like events rather than concerts. People are singing, dancing, drinking and smoking some sort of something illicit. But what’s perhaps most notable is that everyone got along. People were actually nice to one another. And they gladly shared whatever substance they happen to have. I’m thinking of Jimmy sailing to his own tropical beach. Enjoy paradise Jimmy!🦜🦈

It's as if his songs captured the highs, lows, hopes and dreams of generations of us. All the tributes that have poured in, are testament to what a great and generous man he was...something we can all aspire to.

I was crushed when I heard. Of course I like to jam with his more popular songs, but if you take a deeper dive you really get to hear how well he could write lyrics and weave a story. And he was very good at covering a song but in a different way. This is why I love his music so much. If you get a chance listen to his cover of Southern Cross or Silver Wings. And if you want to hear the magic of his original lyrics, listen to Barefoot Children In The Rain. If I could sing at all I would sing this to my children.

Jimmy Buffett is the greatest transcendentalist poet of all time and he could sing and play the guitar a little too. I've been listening to him since middle school because my mother played his cassette tapes in the car as she drove me to school. I'm now living one of his songs in the Florida Keys that he didn't even know he wrote. Thank you and God Bless you Jimmy!

In 1995 at JB concert in Raleigh fairgrounds NC. Four hours before, I commented to a security guard about all the drinking. He responded: “we never arrest anyone at Jimmy Buffett concert. But at Waylon Jennings - drinking all that whiskey - we arrest half of them.” What a testament to Jimmy. All that partying, but everyone is in such a great mood that there are no problems. His song, "BILOXI," is one of my favorite Jimmy Buffet songs. It's so poignant. Being from the souths Gulf Coast, Jimmy was born and raised in Mobile, Alabama. He was living away (Key West, Florida), I felt like he may have been a bit homesick at the time he wrote this song. Jimmy paints a beautiful picture of that beach scene through the bittersweet melody, descriptive heartfelt lyrics, and delivery of this song that it tugs at your hearts strings. His ultra talanted harmonica player and long time member of the Coral Reefer band, Greg "Fingers" Taylor doesn't disappoint, once again with his accompanying Jimmy in this song The soulful sad way he breaks in at the exact right time, blowing the exact right tune in this song and actually, everytime in all the Buffet songs he performs in, always blows me away. His mouth harp accentuates the song and lends to the melancholy feeling it's arousing arousing in you. But, no one can argue that Jimmy Buffet wasn't and still is one of the best balladeers of our time. Be with God, Jimm and rest peacefully in His arms. Thank you old friend for a lifetime of entertaining me for all of sweet memories that those songs stir in me.

Jimmy Buffet was born on Christmas Day in Pascagoula, MS in 1946 and as a young boy he lived across the street from me at 1305 Roosevelt Street (Google his childhood home, it's on their map), before his father moved him to Mobile. Biloxi was only 20 miles away so Jimmy grew up knowing all about it and New Orleans, where he enjoyed Mardi Gras and later learned to be a Master Entertainer playing on Bourbon Street/Clubs. His concerts (parties) always had the feel of a New Orleans Mardi Gras crowd,... nothing but good moods, friendship, and the joy at being alive and celebrating Life.

Never met the man. Loved his music and his attitude. I got into a conversation with an American soldier during a short posting from Sarajevo to Zagreb in 1994 (I was a Canadian UN civilian employee). His tour was about to end, no idea about how Jimmy came up. He left me two cassette tapes of Jimmy Buffett. Very thankful to him and Buffett for making a Sarajevo winter under siege (I was sent back a couple of weeks later) more comfortable.

I live in Franklin, TN. One morning I had dropped off my son at school. I drove the back roads to get home. As I rounded a corner, a dog, on a leash, lunged toward my car. I stopped, looked up & there was Jimmy Buffet, walking his dog. We looked at each other. His look was, “Yes, I’m who you think I am, but don’t say anything. I’m just walking my dog”! I thought, “You’re Jimmy Buffet!!!” But I didn’t say anything. Ironically, I was playing a “cassette” of Jimmy Buffet’s songs. My brief moment that he really did exist in Franklin!!

Jimmy's songs introduced me to Steel Drum music, which I have come to love. First time hearing Margaritaville, made me a lifetime fan. His songs "Barometer Soup" and "Jimmy Dreams" are two of my favourites, yet it seems they rarely get mentioned when people talk about their favourite Buffet songs. Barometer Soup's Steel drum intro just sends me away. He had so many great songs, Come Monday...Changes in Latitudes...He Went To Paris...A Pirate Looks At 40...Boat Drinks... and a little known recording Titled By-Pass My Heart....and I could go on. R.I.P. Jimmy.

His music has been playing constantly for 5 days! Jimmy's music is the soundtrack for my life, of everything joyful. First time I ever heard his music I was 12 or 13 and on my first beach vacation to OBX. It was very rustic back then, nothing like it is now. I heard Margaritaville playing on the radio many times that week we were there as if it was embedded in the air. I was hookex!!! Both on Jimmy and OBX. And it was Jimmy's music that sealed the love between me and my husband back when we were dating!! LOL!! We both had a passion for his music and he often sang Jimmy's ballads to me like Come Monday and Son of a Sailor. I regret that I was never able to see him in concert, it was my dream. Thank you Jimmy for making life on this crazy rock so much more enjoyable. So glad we have your precious music to keep us going until we all get to that other shore and that One Particular Harbor. Not sure why his death hit me hard, I wasn't a huge fan as in I didn't know all his songs, but the songs I knew I loved and they would take away my anxiety and make me feel like I was getting a big hug by my parents. 2 weeks later and I still feel it enough to get me teared up, and I don't get teared up. My fondest memory of Mardi Gras in Mobile, growing up in the 80s, was ending at night at the downtown Holiday Inn down in the parking lot, Jimmy would pull some speakers out and a mic and play. I am so sad Jimmy Buffet passed away. He will be so missed. I saw Jimmy Buffet so many times in the late 70’s & early 80’s when he was in his prime. Always a good show. The best one was when he showed up for the fun of it in a fun Bar in Gardner, Montana close to the entrance of Yellowstone National Park.He had such a zest for life & such a happy go lucky man. He kept his concerts at a reasonable price so we could all afford to see him.🎉I always remember where I was when one of his new songs came out.

I am just starting to deal with this loss. He was such a big part of my childhood. I know at least three or four of his albums by heart. Coconut Telegraph is one of my favorites and I believe it influenced how I live and deal with life. Just today I was talking with a coworker about how I deal with the frustration of our job. Whenever this type of thing comes up I remember It's My Job. So I shared the song with her. And now I am going back to work but with Jimmy playing in the background. I am fortunate enough to be able to listen to music as I work. RIP Jimmy. Thank you for the music, the laughter, the books, life philosophy, and so much more.

Went to 5 of his concerts. 1st at Caesars Tahoe, CA, Coconut Telegraph Tour. Standing on the table to Fins and Cheeseburger in Paradise. Loved him so madly and miss him so badly 😢 He was like no other. RIP JB🙏🏻💐

I was working security backstage in Clarkston, Michigan. Doing my job at my post located back stage in a very busy hallway, I had to make sure everyone was wearing a hard pass (Plastic) full access pass. No was able to walk into the Video Room without those credentials. Well ! guess what, Jimmy didn't wear credentials that day. and that night I embarrassed myself, because I was not going to allow this dude walking around down the hallway and straight to the room I was securing. He asked to go in and I said NO ! He leaned over and look straight into my face and said 'Do you not know who I am ! 'Smiling' ! I said, well sir no ! I donot ! He said, I am Jimmy Buffet ! I looked again and sure panic and embarrassment and a shade of RED on my face. I almost fainted. He laughed 😅 and My Boss came to me later and said Jimmy got the best kick out of it and I was informed Good Job ! I will never forget him ever... 😢RIP Jimmy.

I NEVER had the wonderful experience of seeing Jimmy live and in person. The week before Jimmy passed I had just started making a bucket list of artists. I wanted to see in concert as soon as possible. Number one on the list was Jimmy Buffett. Fortunately, there are many recorded concerts, so Jimmy’s music lives on. But, of course, I was heartbroken, like most of his fans.

I have been a Jimmy Buffett fan from the late 70s One of the most magical things about Jimmy Buffett’s songs is that they lift us when we are down and amplify our joys. Each of us knows the lyrics. Each of us has a song that somehow hits home (maybe several). I don’t say this lightly Jimmy was more than a person, he was more like an idea (I’m not sure how to explain it but I would guess many of you understand) We have certain songs that are a bit like road songs for life, you know the ones with the windows rolled down and singing at the top of your lungs, Fins, Changes in Latitude's, Volcano, then there are the songs that hit home, that brings a tear to your eye because for each of us it brings back a memory that his song helped us through it or makes us remember how we got through bad or sad times. For example for me: I was moving to the “Coast of Carolina”, without my girlfriend and these lyrics hit hard: (And the walls that won't come down, We can decorate or climb, or find some way to get around, Cause I'm still on your side, From the bottom of my heart.) really hit home, in fact my eyes are watering up just thinking about it. or “Captain and the Kid” - My Dad passed away on Father's Day after helping me move a boat down the Chesapeake Bay. His songs are more than songs, they are touch stones, when you hear them, they are a passage, a link (if you prefer) to your inner joy, or sorrow, it opens that special place in your memory, and that is what makes his music and his life so special. I know I speak for many, Jimmy you were the soundtrack to our lives. We will be eternally grateful for your gift to us.

I was introduced to Jimmy’s music by a friend at University in the early 90s, and have been hooked ever since. Saw him in concert in Las Vegas in 05. Such a great storyteller with so many great songs. One of my favourite lyrics of all time is “ if it suddenly ended tomorrow I could somehow adjust to the fall. Good times and riches and son of a bitches I’ve seen more than I can recall. “ RIP.

It’s been a tough year for me. I lost my beloved dog just short of his 16th birthday (who, by the way, was a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel like Jimmy’s dogs), my family and I had an ugly falling-out over something petty (or more likely, my mother’s advancing dementia and the influence of a nephew), and then lost my dad and was excluded by my mom from his memorial. Jimmy helped me feel better through so much with his music and his wonderful attitude toward life. ❤️😢

RIP Jimmy, loved you for years and went to a few live shows. Bought everything you put out and still listen to it often. My tribute to Jimmy is between me and my dermatologist who always is telling me to use sunscreen. Now, at least so far since we lost him, I never go outside without my “Jimmy-Juice” (sunscreen). It’s certainly a way to remember it! So here’s to a great artist who’s music brings me joy…and maybe the way he died could save my life. Use your Jimmy-Juice”! Sail on!

I "walked in his flipflops" for over 50 years, from my intro to him at a bar where a friend played " nothing but Buffett"..I was hooked. I started buying his albums immediately. Several years later. about 1993, I opened a bar on a lake in Ohio, with a Florida Funk feel, and Jimmy all over the place. A year later my bar was instrumental in bringing Jimmy to our concert center, he came to the bar one time, I met him backstage a couple times, and, was lucky to have other encounters with him. I felt like, on Sept 1st, a best friend was taken from all of us. My personal journey was accompanied by him, every day of my life...trips to Key West, befriending Capt Tony, it was, in Jimmy's words, "a helluva ride"...Bubbles up Jimmy!

the passing of a celebrity/famous person usually doesn't affect me. but Jimmy's has. he was a part of the family, Bubba the zany, fun lovin' family member you were proud of. and glad he made good. he will be missed so very much. sadly I couldn't afford to go to his concerts anymore, but my memories of the dozen I did see are treasured memories.

Jimmy's greatest performance for me was in portland oregon at the coliseum back in the 80s. Somehow I scored a front row center aisle seat. The entire front row had a kick line going! A girl saw me in that prime seat and came running down from some higher seat and lands on my lap and wraps her arms around me. I was totally surprised, but absolutely rolled with it.... until security dragged her away. In the lights Jimmy could only see a couple of the first rows. He watched all this happen. After I lost "my girl", I looked up to see him laughing. He holds his hands up and shrugs. I laugh and do the same since this is just what happens in Margaritaville ! What a classic Buffett moment in life! I only wish I knew I would start this business, because I know Jimmy would have loved to live on one of the habitats I create. oh well, maybe one day when we are both over that horizon. Thank you Jimmy for all the years, all the smiles. Peace and joy to your spirit. Oh , if you are that girl reading this, stop on by. I know we will have a laugh or three!

Jimmy Buffet was pure joy. First time I took my husband to his concert ~~he had never heard of him. Not a music guy. All of a sudden he asked me “why are those people wearing parrot hats? Laughingly I said. “just wait”. After going to multiple concerts after that he was hooked. With joy we listened to his magical music. Shouting at the top of our lungs to the words we grew to love. Jimmy just brought pure joy, hope,laughter, and love for his music and his amazing words. I play Jimmy Buffet songs on Pandora hours on end…..you will be so missed and never forgotten. Thank about influence. Thanks to our buddy Jimmy I fell in love with the Caribbean and Key West. After hearing School Boy Heart, I made it a point of learning to sail and then I got my pilots license. I would love to write a book but my life was no where near as exciting as his. When I turned my phone on the morning of September 2nd which by the way was my 70th birthday and I was in Bermuda with my family to celebrate I saw the first message telling me my favorite entertainer was dead. I felt like part of me died along with him. The world will be a little less happy without Jimmy Buffett. RIP pal.

Jimmy Buffet was a man I knew of but neve met or saw live. I live in Australia. But for me from the 70s to his death he was a man who loomed large in my life. He was the man who's music and lyrics somehow engaged and embraced me. I loved him. At this moment I am drinking a '1495' Scotch whiskey, I hold it up in honour of Jimmy B. The music will last forever.

Jimmy helped me look at all music with better understanding and open mindedness. I believe he was a great song writer. He was also a very accomplished author. His books are some of the best I have read. I am sad there will be no more stories from him either in song or book. He created a very memorable character named Tully Mars, (just like the angry red planet) a Wyoming cowboy and his horse Mister Twain. Such a great story Jimmy told. Come Monday was my favorite Jimmy Buffett song. There were a lot of them. My husband and our kids flew to Tallahassee to one of his concerts. It was so worth it. My husband was a lawyer, but he also piloted his own plane which made it all the more fun to go. Tallahassee isn’t all that far from our hometown and around that time Cheeseburger in Paradise was the number one song, but I was there especially to hear him sing Come Monday. Tommy has passed and now Jimmy has passed. I hope they run into each other in heaven. They should have a lot to talk about since they were both sailors… 😢❤❤❤❤
