In this video Barry has been send some Japanese Kit Kats to taste test so gets his friend James in to lend a hand and work through some crazy flavours including wasabi, pumpkin and apple!

Hey Barry, I'm sure you know by now already, but that's Purple Sweet Potato Pudding Kit Kat. We have an entire series of trying different weird Kit Kats from Japan. The worst ones we had were the Soy Sauce Kit Kat and the Yellow Sweet Potato Kit Kat!

several of the flavors such as toasted peanut butter and jelly, cheese cake, and sweet potato, are supposed to be put under the broiler or in the toaster oven until they are lightly browned and bubbly. There is a top underneath there that is thicker than a normal KitKat which cooks.

Amaou is a type of strawberry. Amaou strawberries were developed to replace Toyonoka strawberries and became the most popular strawberries in Japan. The name, Amaou comes from the first letter A from Akai (red), the first two letters MA from Marui (circle), the first letter O from Ookii (big) and the first letter U from Umai (tasty). Hence the name Amaou because they are red, round, big and sweet.

I'm from Japan and this was hilarious to watch :) The purple one that you didn't know about is beni-imo which is a type of potato or yam which is known for being grown in the island of Okinawa. The kit kats with the two green balls is a Japanese sweet which is basically mochi covered in crushed edamame beans. You guys had such interesting ways of describing kit kats and I've learnt the proper way to smell a kit kat as well :) Thanks guysssss

The second one is Anko kit kat. It's Japanese sweet red bean paste. Amaou is joined from two words "amai" (sweet) and "marui" (round) so it translates as large sweet round strawberries.

I wnt to the Asian markets today to grab some stuff with my mom, and near the cash registers, I found a bag of green tea kitkats. These were the only variation of kitkat I've ever tasted in my life besides the Chico ones

The banana thing is actually a Cayenne pepper. Golden Cayenne, to be precise. The purple one is Beni Imo also known as Okinawa purple sweet potato. So... mashed sweet potato Kitkat. The green one after Rum Raisin is Edamame Soybean. Also, I love the matcha KitKats. I wish I could order just them online, but I have to order the full mix.

KitKat in japanese sounds like "Kitto Katsu", which can be translated to "Certain Victory". That's one of the reasons why KitKat is really popular and has many flavor variants in Japan.

We had two Japanese foreign exchange students who got care packages with all the different kit kats. We had strawberry (really good), I think, watermelon. Green Tea didn't thrill me. I liked the dark chocolate. I don't know why they don't have it here.
