Tasting Loquats - Avri Loquat and Premier and SES

I specifically was looking for a variety to add with my Bradenton and Novak varieties and had narrowed it down to Avri and was looking for more reviews. It is good to see a solid overwhelming review of Avri. I am wanting scion for this variety to add to either of my trees. I really like Bradenton, it has that nectarine flavor and of course Novak is great too and extremely large fruited. As far as the fruit flies, It is so easy to bag your fruit, just get the right sized bags so you can cover the whole bunch and then you can keep the birds off as well.

Where can I get Avri loquat tree? Do you ever sell scions?

Glad you guys liked the Avri, I'm still watching to see if this variety has resistance to fruit fly.. my Bradenton and Yehuda has always been hit hard but the Avri seems to be avoiding it. I haven't seen any fruit fly on it this year while my Bradenton was hit already. I just took the chainsaw to it and going to top work it over to Avri.

That would be great! This is the first year we have had fruit fly larvae in our loquats. The whole second crop of our SES is squishy. Thank you again for the fruit and budwood!

Fruit flies? I had found those fly traps some agency puts in fruit tree's to do type and number counts in my Loquat and Mango tree's. What they don't tell you is the Attractant that's used makes every worm producing bad creatures invade your tree's. I lost a lot of food till I started refusing to let them use MY tree's for a Lab. That's what the Gov is good for. As for Loquats, Love em as well as my birds.

Happy to hear you have had fewer fruit fly issues. My understanding is the traps used attract flies seeking protein (ready to lay eggs), but kills them when they get to the trap. Seems Florida has fewer overall insects when the counties go crazy with spraying organophosphates.
