I thought it looked much paler than I remembered the original beeing, just as you mentioned later in the video. It surprises me that they use a very pale crystal malt, I would have thought it was a darker one. Regaring caramel colouring, do you think it matters at all when to add it? Prior to fermentation or after?

I think the darker colour might be down to the caramel he mentioned that they add; at the end of the day, it probably wouldn't make a huge difference to flavour.

@irrlicht6997 From what I read you can add it whenever you like. The modern stuff is so highly concentrated that there is barely any flavour noticeable. The exception is Weyermann Sinamar, which is a concentrate of roast malt extract.

@@sp00ky_guy I was surprised how much of the beer colour comes from colouring. I thought it was just the final adjustment.
