As someone probably pointed out, Åland isn't their own country, but an autonomous "province" of Finland, even though they speak Swedish, and learning Finnish became optional a few years ago. The reason they are a part of Finland, is that there are some hundreds of small islands between Åland and Finland, and in between of Åland and Sweden there are very few islands. Also, that Genesis-reference though. "They say there's always magic in the air."
@UltraCasualPenguin9 жыл бұрын

Okay. This video is quite old now so I don't expect anyone to see this but I'm posting it anyway to clarify some things for you uneducated fools. Åland is an autonomus region of Finland. Taffel is the only snackfactory on Åland. Sips is just the name of the snack. Minipussi is Finnish for mini-bag. Marabou is Swedish, but we get their candy here on Åland as well. Panda is a Finnish snackmanufacturer, they cooperate with Taffel.Pandas mascot is a Panda. Svartbröd is a very dense sourdough bread, great with butter and cheese. Havtornsmarmelad is a marmelade made from a berry called havtorn (or common sea buckthorne in english). The candy from Panda with the angel and the santa are candies made for christmas. Bubblig means bubbly. Dahlmans is a meatcompany on Åland. Medwurst is salami. Pepparmedwurst means pepper-salami. Hope this clears things up a little!

I'm new here to this channel. Came for the tasting Finland/Sweden/Aland treats videos (I live in Ostrobothnia, Finland), but will probably stay for the rest of the videos where you taste sweets and stuff from different countries. Didn't the letter come with explanation or translation of the products when you didn't understand the Finnish and Swedish? Not any info of the meat/sausage package either? The Aland dark bread with sea buck-thorn marmalade are tasty indeed. But it's exciting you got Viltsafari meat! :D I've never eaten their products myself (never had the chance), but I'm guessing it's game sausages, smoked deer and/or wild boar meat. That's the info I found on their webpage. Which one is which of the two of the packages you got, I have no idea. Despite I haven't eaten their meat, I've been on the safari train ride twice. It's a nice little trip with close-up meeting of deers and ostriches. The safari shop also sell ostrich eggs, but I assume they couldn't ship it safely to you. Too bad. You look and sound hyper as well - maybe a bit much coffee before you started filming? :P Gonna hop to the next video now.

Someone who's born and raisd on Åland here and most of the treats you tasted are not products from here. The chips are made here yes but they are considered as a finnish brand as is the brand Panda (that's why the description is in finnish). The Marabou chocolate is a swedish brand. Bc we are smack in the middle of swe and fin we have imports from both countries so these products are indeed sold here but the are not from or made here (except for the chips). The bread, marmelade and the meat are on the other hand products from Åland. We are more famous for our food production bc we don't have any candy production except for homemade candy that you can find on some local street markets.. And Åland is not a country, it is an autonomous, demilitarised, monolingually Swedish-speaking region of Finland. ;) If you want to know more there's always wikipedia, en.wikipedia.org/wiki/%C3%85land_Islands ;)

You are so wrong. Chips Ab (Taffel) is originally an Aland company (nowadays owned by Norweigian Orkla), the factory is situated in Saltvik, Aland Islands. The meat was from Eckerö, Aland Islands and the bread and marmelade was also from Aland. Panda and Marabou is not from Aland though.
