How I wish this were played slower- it's hauntingly beautiful when one has a chance to listen to the gorgeous melody and the hypnotic ground of this piece. Too often I'm afraid, especially in early music, virtuosos follow the mindset of, "I can play it this fast, so why not?" I own this CD and love it, BTW.

It’s wonderful slower or at this speed. Just different.

Gotta say, this is one of the best performances of this song I've ever heard. Well done.

The music starts a couple seconds before the video starts. The camera wanders all over the place and we see heads or hands…oh forget it. Music is to be heard, and the camera work only ruins it if watched. So I listen and all is wonderful. Thank you for sharing.

He's probably just the tech holding it for when the clavisimbalumabangalang guy needs it. Cuz you know those people never carry their own instruments. 🥸

This is a beautiful peace attributed to the English composer Hugh Ashton. However, Dompé means a dirge and it was written after the death of Lord Carey. Therefore, I think it should be played more slowly not fast and joyful as too many musician's do.

I believe this is one of the earliest pieces of secular music to be written down and published.
