The crown-tipped coral mushroom (Artomyces pyxidatus) is a tasty mushroom with an ivory-colored fruiting body that's robust and branchy. Crown-tipped corals grow on wood, making them easy to distinguish from other coral-shaped mushrooms in genera like Ramaria and Phaeoclavulina.
I also discuss some beautiful boletes that are common in the South:
1. Flaming-gold bolete (Aureoboletus auriflammeus)
2. Violet-gray bolete (Tylopilus plumbeoviolaceus)
3. Red-pored, blue-black staining mushroom in the Neoboletus genus
Last, I show off preposterously large and stinky Amanita mushrooms called pinecone Lepidellas (Amanita ravenelii).
