I Wish more people in US were this contagiously passionate about mushrooms :) greetings from Czech republic, it's like our national hobby here ;) after beer drinking, of course. Great content!

We have that "really pretty" guessowii type here in Minnesota. Every time I go to the woods where they flourish (hundreds!) I have to stop and admire the colors from deep red to golden yellow sprinkled wuth those characteristic amanita white spots. Then I fill up my backpack! I just saw a couple white amanitas which resemble the "pantherina-ish" type which you've concluded would be the canescens, right? I immediately thought they were lepiota rachodes but then had second thoughts. Such beautiful mushrooms! I gasp whenever they attract my attention.

Russulas are so brittle becuase they have very round cells in contrast to most mushrooms which have elongated cells. I am not sure why round cells make a mushroom brittle. (My guess is theres just less friction between all the round cells becuase spheres have a low surface area.)

Always great to have more of your videos but I was wondering if you had any tips on the other Ganoderma's. Up by us in Delaware I get a lot of Ganoderma, but they have the dark varnished caps and I have heard there is also another that doesn't normally have a stem. Ganoderma is one of my favorites, but I never know what species they are.

Great find and ID. Didn’t know this one, but I think I’ve run across it before but was too lazy to attempt the dive into an unknown Amanita.

Small correction: Amanita ravenelii is in Section Strobiliformes, not Section Lepidella. Amanitas are tough. Nice job identifying this one.

I wish I could send you my find of a big flush of Amanita Phalloides. I was SO excited when I came accross them. I did upload photos of them to iNat if interested.

If you found that Ganoderma curtisii specimen in that pine environment, you're likely holding G. curtisii f.sp. meredithiae (after mycologist Meredith Blackwell)

Great video! I did not realize that A. ravenelii had such an elongated base like that. That's crazy looking! Also, that shirt is bad ass. I am on my way to your store to buy one now.

hi Anna, George here, here being up near Cashiers NC. the mushrooms here are just starting to fruit. it has been a cold spring and things like the Hemlock Reishi are three weeks later than last year. It sure would be fun to hike up here with you and learn more. I get a kick out of your style and enjoy your videos. smiling, George.

Lol, that's wild. Especially so considering that I don't believe that they have ever been thought to be edible by any reputable source in the past. That book is just making stuff up hoping to unalive people?
