@@StudleyDuderight That is why they use a "Tool-Assisted Software", a.k.a TAS. A person still have to play it tho, just very very slowly and saving every movement. Every. Movement.

@@rbarn2280 it's a TAS, so he's not using cheats for the run but if you look at the weapons when he shoots at bosses, it's switching insanely fast between weapon 1 and 2. Switching between them and firing as fast as the computer will let you is way faster then just holding the button down for autofire.

List of mandatory and unavoidable kills, bosses aside (sub-bosses included, powerup-drones not included) and other casualties: S1= 3 kills + 1 suicide S2= 5 kills + 1 unintentionally provoked suicide S3= 5 kills (the hovering sub-boss and then the one that climbs on the wall are assumed to be the same entity) + 6 suicides (not counting the other 6 winged soldiers that jumped down because I can assume they safely landed onto the lower platforms the player was standing just moments before) + 8 auto-eliminated S4= 5 kills (not counting the boss' destructable projectiles) + 5 auto-eliminated S5= 10 kills (nests and the red ants they spawn are treated as separate entities, not counting the centipede-thing because it just divided into smaller creatures, so it's not dead) + 1 auto-eliminated (boss' tentacle-thing treated as a separate entity) S6= 5 kills + 13 auto-eliminated (not counting the projectiles fired from the organic mouth-like cannons, counting the two tentacles of the last sub-boss as separate entities) + 5 suicides (not counting the Player's suicide, because it was completely avoidable and not mandatory)

The boss of stage 4 could have been killed without firing at it by allowing the missiles to hit the red 'eye' on their own. It would have taken an extra 15 minutes but it would have worked. The fact that the player chose to shoot it voluntarily invalidates this as a 'pacifist' run. Sorry, I don't make the rules. 🤷‍♂

Pacifist Contra turns the first stage into an absolute nightmare. The final stage, which is essentially a boss rush, becomes a cakewalk in comparison because you actually get to shoot and eliminate threats.

I had to see this for myself. I was not disappointed. That was nuts seeing contra dodge wave after wave of enemies and projectiles. And the game is much more quiet when youre not constantly blasting enemies.

At 0:35 there's a period with the player, seven regular enemies, and two dogs all in a row on-screen at once with no terrible flicker, plus another two enemies above those too. Very impressive. And it flies in the face of certain people who continue to falsely claim the SNES can't handle more than a few enemies on-screen at once. Is this a hacked version of the game with some kind of flicker reduction, overclocking, FastROM patch, or slowdown turned off, or just the regular stock game?

Me at 11 years old huff, it was terrible they killed me many times, I could hardly get with friends or brothers to the skull boss, if you passed from there you are the king of the neighborhood, there were few who passed and they reached the ship where the helicopter helped you balance with the missiles only once I got there, now I'm 38 years old and I say but this game is very easy, it's just practice, that's all and as an adult I have better reflexes for games, I have passed many of the hardcore of my childhood.

If you learn the enemie's patterns, it isn't hard anymore. It's all about routine and reflexes! It's a very good but way to short game...
