It was just a regular savewarp, my dude. The reason his hearts increased was because he'd just finished getting his fourth Heart Piece from Aginah's cave. The item changing over to the bow I'm not too sure about, but I think it could be standard for the japanese version.

I'm still not sure when the Boomerang is picked up. They still don't have it at 48:35 , and they never go back to the castle to get it (let alone back to the Fat Fairy to upgrade it), but they suddenly have the fully-upgraded Magic Boomerang at 49:21

Bombable hut chest has 300 rupee when you already have boomerang or magic boomerang. If you don't have both boomerang, the chest contents is changed to magic boomerang. Got boomerang timing was already mentioned.
