The SNES version of Aladdin (1993) follows the plot of this Disney movie much more closely than its Genesis counterpart ( tasvideos.org/4215M ).
Unlike in the other movie ( tasvideos.org/1130M ) of this game, Jasmine wasn't happy with just being rescued by Aladdin; she made him spend a little time picking up some jewelry for her on the way. This movie aims to complete the game with all the red gems collected, which takes a little more time, but adds quite a bit to the entertainment value of the run. The core trick of this TAS is to abuse the parachute extensively to move faster than normal walking or jumping.

For those of us who watched the "any%" version already, I'll save you about fifteen minutes: Collecting every single Red Gem just gives the player 2 more health hearts. ):

At 14:07 it is noticeably faster to at first bait the swordsman to throw the 1st sword diagonally left-upwards by positioning Aladdin higher up as one approaches the swordsman, followed by letting this 1st sword move all the way up to the top left, jumping again to bait the swordsman a 2nd time to throw a sword diagonally left-upwards, but using the same jump to land (only) on the 1st sword as it comes back, to bounce off of it and follow the 2nd sword's path to land on it higher up to the left, bounce off of it, and collect the left red gem. Afterwards, one can float over to the right side to collect the other red gem using sword bounces. Alternatively, one can throw an apple at the swordsman after he threw the 1st sword, to avoid the the delay between the 2nd and 3rd thrown sword.

The platforming in this game was so smooth and satisfying. Too bad the game was pretty short. Even as a kid it didn't take long to beat.

If I’m correct, he’s pressing the cape button, and then letting go, alternating every frame. This is so you can glide slightly further than normal.

If you ACTUALLY look at the screen its clear to discern that the green gems are like coins, 100=1up. At the end of the level how many red gems youve collected is Displayed. I.E. The red ones are the extra lil level objectives there to complete if you wish. Jesus people will comlain about anything on youtube. "Muh title!"

@@the8thark There never was a reason to complain to begin with. But if you want to live in a world where everything has to meet your personal ocd requirements then you need to grow up. I played this game as a child and it was quite apparent the greens are coins for 1 ups and red were level goals for more health.

It shows all gems being counted at the end of the stage. The name may not mean exactly that (in other games for example, "All ___" could mean "All - this one for this variant of the speedrun). I'd recommend watching a little further and/or visiting the website for the full breakdown of criteria (unless you are a speedrunner or TAS'er of this specific category).

Like others have mentioned, the Title is misleading. It should be "All Red Gems", otherwise the Title will come off as Clickbait to most people. They'll feel like you lied to them, or that this is the wrong Speedrun.

@@PapOwnYou Yet the All Gems category has been nitpicked before by many people. I'm not the first one to say that the wording for the Run can be confusing. Yes I KNOW it's All Red Gems, but even all the Red Gems aren't collected. It's really All Red Gems the game is looking for for full completion. So even within it's own qualifier, it's confusing and misleading.
