It's a game about conquering your fears. Gameplay-wise Lester shows cowardly behavior like running from enemies and screaming while jumping until you complete certain tasks. Lester changes before the Gorilla boss but its most noticeable after since he runs faster and no screams while jumping. Story-wise Lester ends up on the island after falling asleep in a crate that was stolen by pirates. He saves the island during his escape but unlike most heroes did not set out with the intent of doing that.

As hard as this game was, I would love to see a modern day reboot. And with the survival game boom still going, it wouldn't be that hard. Have a modern teenager get lost. Stupid and alone with no electronic service, they would have to learn to survive when they can only handle a small amount of basic tasks per day. Eventually, you'll build yourself up into being able to work more, do more, and survive better. If it were a multiplayer, team based game, you could have it so people learn skills dependent on what tasks that team mate is specializing in. Eventually, you can meet a friendly tribe who, if you help them return a valued member of the tribe from Gorilla territory, teaches you more refined skills and new ones. Have them give you the information that they've been getting raided by pirates on occasion, being that the tribe knows where a gold deposit is. They won't ask for your help because they see you as unfit to do the job, but you can choose to tackle the pirates whenever you want, ready or not. I think it would be a fun, progression style game.

I remember hating this game. At first I thought the concept was hilarious playing a Tomb Raider-esque game but with a super nerd character but then I found there were too many "wtf do I do" moments. Even watching this run, I thought to myself, how would anyone think to do these things? I guess it wasn't THAT complicated...I just never gave it a fair chance. This ending though "So then what happened?" "Then this hairy spider..." THE END What?
