Am a Tata Nexon EV owner. Got delivery on 22-July-2020. Have myself driven this car 30000+ KMs till now with more of highway driving. Am sharing my experience with EV. Mileage to be considered for Tata Nexon EV after a software upgrade now is 180 KMs with AC on @25°C and "drive freely like petrol cars", it is nowhere near 312 KMs as rated by ARAI. Technology has advanced, ARAI testing mileage at speed of 50KMs/hr. doesn't apply now. On drive mode, I get about 230KMs on limiting my speed to 70-80 KMs/hr. with AC @25°C and with "Econ" mode on, climate ambient @ about 32°C, on highway. Sport mode is real fun to drive. If you are driving about 100KMs, try sports mode. I usually drive in sports mode when city driving. Average mileage you can expect in Sports mode is about 130KMs with driving speeds of 80-90KMs/hr. I feel crash test should be different for same model ICE and EV, because EV is holding a motor which would give different accident impact than a ICE car carrying an engine. Though Nexon has got an 5* for Petrol car, I am not sure if this holds for Nexon EV also. Onboard AC to DC battery charging module is to accept only 3.7kW. I feel company can go upto 11kW charging easily without much additional cost, saves the charging time by 2/3rd! You cannot drive this car as freely as you drive a ICE car but the feel, comfort, no noise, proud to be pollution free car owner is much more. The car has only one parking brake (Hand brake). This is a major safety compromise made by Tata. On putting off car, it automatically switches to neutral mode making it necessary you apply parking brakes else, the car might move! On comfort levels car is very good. Ride is smoother even on rough roads. Lately Tata is really improving on designing, interiors of their cars. This car is worth it if you have requirement of city drive or for runs not more than 180 KMs. in total in drive mode and 100 KMs in sports mode. Car back seats are comfortable for two. Leg space is average. A 6 feet tall guy will be uncomfortable sitting at back. To get this car in under ₹:15/- Lakh bracket Tata has compromised on these and more. But this price is really attracting crowds if you compare with Hyundai Kona and MG. I faced issues with battery. I got replacement battery under warranty but with a REFURBISHED BATTERY. My car had been towed to service center 3 times for the same battery issue to make Tata technicians accept that the battery is defective! Tata dealers suck! Even the Tata officers appointed for the EV customers are not so responsive. The car has only one parking brake (Hand brake). This is a major safety compromise made by Tata. On putting off car, it automatically switches to neutral mode making it necessary you apply parking brakes else, the car might move!

Battery replacement isn’t like engine oil change that it must be done. Many users can drive much more than rated warranty. Only the capacity decreases a little with age. Tesla batteries still had 90% capacity left after driving 2,00,000km. This means a car which went 500km on full charge, can still go 450km on full charge. Battery price right now is $120/kWh, amounting to ₹2.7L for Nexon EV. With time, economy of scale will be achieved and prices will fall. By the time warranty expires, battery prices will be much lower than today. And even then, if 270km range is satisfactory for you, there’s no need to mandatorily change battery. You can still use it.

what will be the car value after 8 yrs ? lets say i travel for 25 km everyday for 8 years. i believe it will be around 4-5 lakh as motor and battery will be in good condition.
@Vijayjadhav126003 жыл бұрын
Nope battery will deteriorate after 8 years
@shresthsonkar92073 жыл бұрын
@@Vijayjadhav12600 phone battery cannot be compared to EV battery. EV battery has thermal management system which phone doesn’t have. Phone battery loses performance over time very fast due to lack of thermal management. Initially, EVs like Nissan Leaf didn’t have it either, but when Tesla introduced it, everyone realised how important it is. Nexon EV also has liquid cooled battery for surviving Indian summer. EV battery lasts way longer than the phone battery.

Does the charger comes with any lock when attached to car charging point? Consider we go on a trip and to recharge we used 16A charger from some place in between and slept throught night. The car could be locked, but can chager be stolen just by taking out? Or do we have any alerts system or lock in car charger point?
@shresthsonkar92073 жыл бұрын
When you lock the car, the gun (end of charger which goes into port is called gun) gets locked into the port. When you unlock the car, it is released. Nobody can do mischief with charger. Just write 440V and make skull with red paint and nobody will dare touch it😂. Psychological warfare.

I think people who faces problems in nexon ev thats coz lack of technical knowledge that how ev works and how to manage good mileage, and thats coz they expect same performance from ev as of petrol or disel engine... People need to know about ev before buying and you will be probably this much satisfied...
@shresthsonkar92073 жыл бұрын
The people who have range issues are likely using brake pedal for braking all the time - and thinking that’s how EV is meant to be driven due to ego, don’t want to learn. Reality is, regen braking is repsonsible for getting back almost 20% of energy back. So if you’re getting 200km on full charge without correctly using, it’s like driving car on 80% battery since you’re wasting the 20% by using pedal brakes. If you use regen, you’ll get 200*100/80 = 250km.
