The problem with CVT is that, when you are driving in bumper to traffic, the CVT tends to heat up. The Rubber Band affect in sudden acceleration is also common in CVT cars, which is a big drawback. CVT cars are expensive as compared to AMT cars. If something goes wrong with CVT, one is bound to pay a fat bill. AMT cars are suitably priced and are cheaper to maintain. They do not heat up in bumper to bumper traffic. As mostly the cars are driven in the city, the need for sudden acceleration doesn't arise. Maruti's Dzire has extremely smooth AMT, almost at par with any true automatic car.

i20 Sportz CVT at around 10 lacs should be a better deal as it's a fully automatic. If going for AMT, go for something under 7.5 lacs like an Ignis AGS. Swift AMT would be over 9 and that's too high for AMTs, making i20 IVT more VFM.

I own it. It's soooo much better than AMT...not as fast as VW DCT but for family car it is amazing. No issues so far gear shifts are super smooth and its mileage is also good

I am using Tata punch AMT and it works for me ...... Indian roads are designed for 80kmph to 100 kmph only and for that no lag observed in punch bs6 phase 2 engine ..... pls review once again .....
