I'm afraid that James and Tata's relationship will end in resentment on both sides. Years may past and Tata might miss out on becoming a mother because James may not change his mind on having a child. Tata's sister may influence her and make Tata turn against James.

Shekinah has no business advising ANY woman on how to navigate relationships. The commonalities between the Talia and Shekinah are upbringing and high level insecurities - which are interchangeable- and they don't even realize that's why they relate. They both have traumas from the past, not necessarily from relationships alone, it begins with their raising. Shekinah was raised in a cult like family dynamic. Talia was raised in a heavily restricted and sheltered family dynamic, both with cultural components. Neither were taught or modeled healthy coping and life skills or functional relationship foundation building. When people have high insecurities from past trauma, they are dysfunctional with rejection and abandonment issues. One of the many traits they rely on to cope is leveling. They will distrust & tear their partner down, shelter and suppress them, often gaslight and manipulate them emotionally in order to level them to their emotional playing field. Rather than having the introspect to rise Up to a level of higher personal emotional control and integrity, they level the partner Down in order to maintain their safety & control in the relationship. That's why there's always a threat to (people like Shekinah and Talia) when the partner is evolving, succeeding and socializing outside of the dome they built around the person. This is toxic and unknowingly, the partner is living in an emotionally abusive situation which keeps them codependent and that takes quite a long time to recognize and remove themselves from.

I disagree. Tata didn't give up her desire for kids. She is sacrificing her desire for kids to be with James. Those are two very different things. She still wants kids, and she will end up resenting James over it. nobody is going to be happy in their marriage except for angel, because she will love destroying their marriage

This seems very similar to the story of Sam & Citra, she was also from Indonesia, where Citra’s sister came to the US and found someone to marry. I can see Tatha and her sister having the some type of dream of living in the US long term if the sister can meet a man in the US and get marry as well.

Except that Citra is really nice, has a good sense of humor and doesn't cry at the drop of a hat ...and one of her sisters married Sam's brother. It wasn't forced on the American men, they welcomed the other family to join theirs.

There is no reason that he would throw good money after bad by sponsoring Angel. Having the sister in law staying with them will just make tata resent James even more for his not wanting children.

I'm Indonesian. We take marriage very seriously, we stick together and be there for each other in the good and bad times. According to Indonesian tradition, If I want to get marry, I need to ask permission from my parents and older unmarried siblings as my respect to them. For the older brothers it has never been any issue, because Indonesian men has more responsibilities they need to achieve before they get marry. But for the older sisters it's very sensitive because it makes them looks like leftovers. I think this is why she wanted to sabotage her little sister relationship. She doesn't want people look at her as a leftover woman.

@wmverk, @tawnygirl200, No one has ever needed for a matchmaker:) Indonesia is a family-oriented culture, just like most other Asian countries, they have their own culture and tradition. Things that are importance for some cultures, can be pointless for others. As I mentioned, to ask permision is Indonesian tradition. Indonesians have a strong family bond and look after for eachother. Sure, we can do what ever we want but it doesn't feel right for us. And no one has ever said no and stoped someone from getting married because they are singels or nonsense reasons. They usualy accept it. My cousin got married before her older sister, and the older sister has no problem with it, they all have beautiful relations. But Tatas sister is bitter.
