I think “velvety” is a better finish for mature skin than “glowy”. It’s my experience that going to either Extreme-FLAT MATTE and DISCO BALL in terms of finish tends to emphasize things I don’t want. A SOFT radiance or a DEMI-MATTE would work better than the two I just mentioned.

I'm in my 20´s but I find so much sense in your statement, you´re totally rioght, I've found that while doing my auntie or mom's makeup if I use a glowy primer it emphasizes pores and wrinkles much more

Absolutely! Natural Matte or satin is my go to for that very reason. I am still naturally oily and my natural oil still breakthrough. So if I try to use anything that's somewhat glowy, I look like a grease ball in about an hour. But I am also 50 and have wrinkles. So any extra glow just emphasizes that. @r.carmichael42363 жыл бұрын
My problem is exactly this! I’m pale from my Irish side but still have a golden undertone from my Grandmere (Cherokee 🙂) so sometimes even if you know your undertone you still settle for “close enough” because you can’t afford the $65 foundation that’s a perfect match as an everyday foundation
@foxymama20033 жыл бұрын
@@r.carmichael4236 I know it is time consuming at first, but getting a couple of shades and mixing them is how I deal with that. Ulta and Sephora will give you samples so you don’t have to buy two until you find the right combo. I have had so many makeup consultants look at my pale skin and auburn hair and immediately think I have cooler undertones but I actually don’t and they make me look horrible. I didn’t learn about how to mix and match until I worked in a drag bar and those Queens KNEW their makeup! I mix foundation, blush and most bronzers to get my perfect shade.
@LCx8293 жыл бұрын
@@r.carmichael4236 I have the same issue. I’m English and Armenian with light, golden undertones. The foundations that match me are drying, matte and not my fav. Most of the time I end up with foundation too dark or too light. I’ve mixed but sometimes it unflattering.

Treating bronzing and contouring as the same thing feels like a mistake on its own, most people are not aware of the differences in both application and undertone selection, it would be nice to see that explained so it’s another mistake to avoid.

Tati you are truly a gem. These are the best tips to date on KZbin. I’ve gotten so good at make up over these last 5 years, doing my liner, brows, using lashes, etc. My main concern is my face looking dry after using setting powders. I tend to avoid using it all over my face, I’ll use my bronzer to set my cream contour, etc. I’ll sponge my setting powder under my eyes with a damp real techniques sponge, that helps tremendously. But on days my skin is extra dry, I have a harder time getting a flawless look that I go for. Any tips would be lovely! After I wash my face and exfoliate, I moisturize my face before foundation, use sunscreen spray, and a facial luminosity spray.

My own tips - don’t overdo the eyebrows. Also, know your undertone - not just for foundation shades. Knowing whether you are cool or warm will tell you what colours of blush, bronzer and eyeshadow will look best on you. Not everyone looks as amazing in a warm smoky eye!

On the winged liner, you explained it well Tati, but Wayne Goss did a tutorial with a rule of thumb that I found very helpful: When creating the wing, think of following and extending the lower lash line, not the upper lash line. This is because the extension of the lower lash line will always go upwards while the upper lashline tends to extend down or best case, straight out. When you have created the direction and shape you can then join the wing to the upper lash line. It's a great helpful tip if you struggle with doing liner with your eyes open.

Disagree about the eyeshadow. Those of us with hooded eyes need to go above the crease. I will say I agree about leave space below the brow, but a lot of space on the brow bone but very hooded eyes. Your tip only applies to your eye shape.

Love love love this video!!! You can see the differences so obviously on how it changes your face shape so much!! Just ignore the rude people and please continue with the makeup tricks!! Everyone just talks about the products but not how to use them properly.. without these techniques we can’t maximize all the amAzing makeup!! ❤️❤️❤️

What tips do you have for hooded eyes? Mine have really gotten worse over the last few years and I'm struggling with my eye makeup.

Blush? Highlighter? Lip liner? Lipstick? Eyebrows? This needs a part 2.

Thank you for explaining skin type and finish type! Not every oily person wants a matte look not every dry person wants to glow! Yes!

I like how Robert Welsh says “there aren’t any rules to makeup, but there is a makeup theory” before he does these videos. Because sometimes I like to wear a purple lip. Purple makes me happy haha. One thing that I do that’s on the don’t side is do a winged liner and then put black liner in my waterline. Sometimes I want that Smokey, squinty cat eye look. I have naturally big eyes though so I don’t mind my eyes looking smaller sometimes

Ok right off the top- on top one. Love this!!! Can you make a video with product recommendations and maybe even showing how you would get the different looks on different types of skin? I completely have this problem!
