Ozval se mi jeden člověk na inzerát, že má tenhle motor a potřebuje se ho zbavit, když jsem se na to přijel podívat tak z něho vylezlo, že octávku by bral jen v dobrym stavu, což ta moje nebyla, ale hlavně že se potřebuje zbavit toho motoru, tak jsem se dohodli na 8tis a jel jsem domů pro vozejk (bydlí cca 50km ode mne) a za 3 hodinky jsem si vezl motor domů. Shodou náhod mi den předem volal člověk, kterej měl zájem tu octu koupit, ale že se ještě rozmyslí a asi za 4 dny mi volal, že to bere a týden od koupi motoru jsem prodal i kombíka (sice za míň než jsem ho koupil, ale dostane se mu řádná renovace).

I wonder why they would go through the trouble and expense of 8 cylinders for only 2.5L on a production motor?

You say only 2.5L :D but after the ww2 most cars here were only 1.1 or 1.2l (and lot of cars even before the war). This engine was designed in late 40s/early 50s and it was very modular and reliable (used in cars with twin carbs and higher comp., trucks, generators...) @@Skili19 Thanks for the info. I don't doubt they were good engines, it just seems like it would be more expensive to produce an 8 cylinder 2.5L engine than a 4 cylinder, and for an application like a daily driver car or generator (i.e. not high performance) I'm not sure what the advantage of 8 cylinders would be? They must have had a reason, I'm just curious what it was.

@@8180634 I was developed for luxury car and military trucks. Also you can't aply that logic to comunist era czechoslovakia, there was central planing and you had to make what they told you to make. Tatra was to some extend an exeption but not really. It is hard to explain in youtube coment. Go read the wiki links, its good stuff :)

Looks and sounds nice. Check the oil system. Its a bit strange on the car engines, not sure about the generator version.

if you are refering to the oil light being on than you don't need to worry, it is reversed. When there is oil pressure the light is on and when it is off there is no pressure. I checked the electical panel before I even atempted to start it and this was one of the things that suprised me.

It is clear from your video channel that you are skilled enough to figure these things out & you know how to deal with them. There is a bypass filtration system & it isn't very good. I made mine into full flow & it passed the test. Looking forward to seeing where this is going. A motorbike?

@@zbrojovkastar The plan is to somehow stuff it in to my Octavia (pickup) but it will have to wait a year or two since I have already too many projects. The filtration system was pretty much standart for the time this engine was designed and I had cars with bypass system before and drove them daily just had to do oil change every 3000km... I may change it when I try to put it in to the car I know already the cooling system will have to be modifyed just to fit it in...

I got lucky and got this one pretty cheap but generally engine like this one that came from generator go for 500 to 1000 euro usualy for complete but not running. Engines from T603 go from 800 euro for pile of parts to 5000 euro for running engines. I saw few people asking up to 10000 euro for restored one.

I didn't touch the red one since the last video I made with it years ago and the yellow one has broken gearbox and needs a lot of small things to pass inspection (bushings, some rust repair, brake lines, etc.) I want to finish the 1963 Octavia first and I have a lot of other work to do before I can work on it again. Also this year wasn't too good for me I crashed my daily driver so I had to fox it first and than two days after I got it painted I fell and hurt my shoulder and had to get some surgery so I wasn't able to use my right hand for few months at all and I still can't do any heavy stuff for two more months. Hopefully I can get to fixing the red one next year.

Dík, ale do Tatry asi určitě nepůjde. Je to motor z elektrocentrály, do 603 bych ho určitě necpal (ikdyž to jde), má jinej KP, písty, sání, chlazení, mazání, atd. Do 805 by se hodil víc, ale zase je tam dost věcí ktery jsou jinak a hlavně na 805 nemám doma místo. Původně jsem měl v plánu to zastavět do stare octavie (mám doma jednu ze které někdo udělal pickup a jezdil s tím pro dřevo do lesa), ale nevím jestli to udělám nebo nakonec postavím cely auto kolem toho motoru.

What is the point of your comment? Why are you even watching this video if you don't get it? There is nothing wrong with fossil fuel burning it is in how people burn it.... Why does wood cut in europe has to go to china to be turned in to products and than shipped back to europe? Why do people need to drive 2km to work when they can ride a bicycle? Why do new cars have 8 or 9 years of planed live span when it is more ecological to keep older cars i working order? Why do some countries close their nuclear power plants just to than buy electricity from countries where most of the electricity is made from coal? Why do we outsource work to asia where nobody gives two f**ks about ecology...
