This is wonderful! I needle tat and have never seen shuttle tatting done!. Love the button addition.

Love this idea, have made one so far for my granddaughter! Thanks! A question: You mention filling up both shuttles, which I did. Then when the hair bob was complete, I cut the thread. How can I connect the thread from the two shuttles at the very beginning, to make another hair bob? I've learned how to connect and hide threads, but its all been in the middle of the project; can't seem to find any videos to solve my problem! Thanks!

Linda Clark, I do this often also ;) You start the next tatted piece with a single shuttle and tat a ring. I tat over the tail as I begin this single shuttle ring. I then add the second shuttle by placing the second thread tail through the base of the ring. If your next element is a chain you will tat over the tail of the newly added thread. This will also work with a pattern that has a ring as the next element.

Note for new tatters: Can you see that my threads are coming together at a 90 degree angle? This is an essential key to making the "flip" or transfer of the knot that forms the double stitch. I see beginners pull the two threads at an angle of 180 degrees against each other and they get LOCKED KNOTS : / not tatting knots that slide.

what is the item covering the scissor points? Pattern? Thanks, cute idea.

Cat, it is a scissor fob that is bobble tatted around vinyl tubing. The pattern was created by Randy Houtz and can be found in the latest book by the Shuttle Brothers (Gary and Randy Houtz) www.gr-8shuttles.com/tatting_gr8_baubles.shtml

I finally got my GR8's to work and was tatting away with one of my resin ones fine but ran out of cotton so I took the bobbin out and re-filled it (not Overfill) and now it will not work, I have tried everything I know and it still wont work...no cotton stuck, bobbin in the right way but nothing helps???? Help Please Joy in OZ

Joy, I would take the bobbin out AGAIN! and check that the H on the bobbin is truly facing upwards. Check that the screw is set in smoothly - not binding. And as you already know... don't tighten the screw down too tightly.

oh duh! The proper way to use the Clover needle threader: Push the needle threader through your needle and THEN put your threads in the threader to pull them into the eye of the needle - boy! it's tough dealing with an aging brain ; /
