“Tattered Art”
Original song by Bridget Beenanti
Vocals by Rocky Klein
A few years ago I decided to do a series of over 100 art works that I gave away for free. I just wanted to show people that goodness still existed in this world and simple human kindness, that most see as normal everyday nothings, do have ripples through the lives of others effecting them in ways we never see.
I tried to show my GRATITUDE and it had nothing to do with someone being a celebrity or not. There was one that was particularly painful for me, though it didn’t start out that way. I had a follower on my Instagram and I followed him back when I was doing country music art and I was followed by people like Crystal Gayle, Carlene Carter and Buddy Jewel. I had no idea who he was in music and when we chatted he was always very nice. In his artistic endeavors we were very similar, had similar love of travel as well as our up bringing, plus we both played bass guitar. I had no idea what music his band even played. I decided to add him to my gratitude series after we both ended up on TikTok and I duetted him for fun. Well it didn’t go well and I got torn to shreds, to be honest, and no one thought I was worth hearing, it seemed, not even his band member. I still haven’t heard his band’s music. I still think that guy, down deep, is a very good guy and I would love to talk to again. It is just sometimes people forget we are all just human.
I ended up sending the art of this person to my dear old friend Anthony Focx in Nashville, along with the one I made for him. To my knowledge that is where it sits.
As the hardest year of my life ends; where I have been under anastesia 5 times, had two major surgeries, thousands of needles, more tests than I can count and being told I will never eat normally again. My insta and TikTok have been gone for over a year and the Doctors suggested I pour things out in music and art…my escapism.
Sadly this one I cannot sing because I start to cry (I’m very sensitive). Our legacy in this life is not fame, materialism or money- our legacy is how we touch the individual life for the better, because long after that other stuff ( and we )are gone, it is the INDIVIDUAL who will remember us and carry on. No one is promised tomorrow and some of us just want to be kind/ show gratitude with no strings attached.
