Excellent! I used to have to regularly walk through some of the guttin' sheds in Peterhead .... believe me, not for the fainthearted! These women are no shrinking violets! ;-)

Ta Charles - I once heard a bloke just sing this brilliantly in Stonehaven Folk club 12 years ago...Love the album "Awa wi the rovin sailor" - I also have 2 books of stories from the late Peter Buchan. Truly great stories.

Tom Spiers's voice is perfect for this song, ably accompanied by Arthur Watson and the late Peter Hall. All authentic Aberdonians. I love the lyrics

Must get a hold of that one Charles - though I love these songs to sing them would not be "right" . The stuff I am working on is from my own country, Australia, or at least where I was born and raised until moving here 12 years ago!

Anybody know the date of the film? Mike
@OldManGripStrength8 жыл бұрын
Don't know the exact date, but pretty sure it was filmed 1930's. The boat at 1:00 (D'Arcy Cooper) was requisitioned by the Navy in 1939 and sunk in 1941 along with it's crew.

kintakintyea--great reading for this Yank! Boil them twice? Oy! PS I understand, but canna yet speak, Glaswegian. Blame Battlefield Band and McManus.

This would be Doric, from the northeast. A couple of distinct features: "f" for "wh" and "gweed" for "guid". Have fun with it!
