It is so interesting seeing these episodes and then looking up how many of the couples ended up being divorced a few years later.

John McCook has been a wonderful institution on CBS daytime, first as Lance Prentiss on Y&R then as Eric Forrester on B&B. I can remember when John and Janice Lynde (Leslie on Y&R) along with Mary Stuart and Michael Nouri (from SFT) song beautiful standards on an afternoon CBS special.

What is interesting here is that Gene Rayburn and his wife Helen Ticknor Rayburn, were married from 1940 until Helen passed in 1996. That's 56 years folks..Just learned that while Gene was filming Match Game in the seventies, the man actually commuted from their home in Maine to tape twelve shows at a time. Gene finally did get awarded an Emmy, at the end of his life, for lifetime achievement. What astonishes me is that they were married so long and in the two appearances I saw them in with Tattletales, they ended up getting the most incorrect answers.

They lived in Massachusetts not Maine. I believe they lived in Osterville on Cape Cod.

They were in a number of these shows, both in the 70s and 80s.

I always hated the way Bert Convy would rewrite questions after he read them. The question did not say the painting was stolen, only that it had a hotel stamp on the back of it. Large hotels have always donated furniture and paintings, etc., to charity auctions and such. It could have been purchased there.

Bert did that a lot, he really wasn't the greatest game show host. He would often forgot the answers the celebrity would give when bringing the spouse back on. I often wondered why the producers didn't give the backstage partner a copy of the question after Bert read it for the first time. That way they could re-read it exactly as it was worded as they pondered their answer. It would have cut down on the number of times the original question had to be repeated and probably would have regularly allowed enough time for a 5th question on each episode.

@@ruffntumble1964 Bert was a great host but he did get things confused at times. and your idea would have been a great solution. But many guests would have probably asked him for clarifications anyway.
